Thank you Paul, the book I am looking for was written by E. Junek (Junkova) and was only available in Czech.
I am not sure if it was pre war or early post war.

Thanks Once again

There was a very small.. Czech book Kralovna Volantu by Eliska Junek back in 1990,
And the book Bugatti Mein Leben By Eliska Junek
Wolfgang A Seidler Verlag 1990
ISBN 3-901131-01-9
I have both in My Bugatti collection

the books
Bugatti Automobiles in the Czech Lands

Voitures Bugatti aux Pays tcheques
cover a big part of the Junek story too...

There are literally hundreds of car books that are published in languages other than English every year, or are on obscure subjects, and most do not get imported. There are any number of people here taht have tried to make a business of importing these things, but it is very difficult. People have to know what you are doing, and advertising and promotion is expensive. Veloce Publishing does a decent job with Italian titles, but I'm sure that they could sell more than they do if more people knew they existed and what they have. As far as I'm aware, there isn't anyone bringing in books from some of the specialty French publishers.

Sorry to go OT, but this rings like "Bugatti and pay cheques" in my ears... drunk.gif

Well:
Veloce have some books on Bugatti that are perhaps too highly Priced..
Many of them are offered now as Sale offers ..
Say half price..
The Books About Eliska Junek are not always in that catagory..
At least not the ones from the east...
They were cheap, by our standards

I just want to warn you, there are at least two Czech book named "Vteriny (Vteøiny if you got the correct charset) za volantem," one of them is the one by Eliska Junkova, the second is by Kovarik/Hausmann, it's also about racing in this era, but it covers a little bit wider scope. I have only access to the second one, though. I even found it for sale, but in ads everybody wants to buy the first one, not sell.

When I was in Prague last summer, I bought a copy of the book "Eliška Junková" by Rudolf Adler and 10 co-authors, published by Foibos Press, ISBN 80-903641-0-1.

Hello Frank,

Could you post or e-mail me a cover scan of the book you bought? I don't know that book. I made a bibliography on Bugatti (see the link in my previous post) and would like to complete that.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I know that website, but it isn't up to date. That is why I made my own bibliography.

Jeroen
