No, it doesn't! It's all there in your computer.

Of course my PC's programmes have German names. Therefore I don't know if the following is of any help to English language speaking TNFers.

On my PC I can click on "Programme". Next I can click on "Zubehör", next on "Systemprogramme" and then on "Zeichentabelle" (which should translate into something like "index of characters") where all those foreign letters are listed.

For instance if you want to write Jarek Janis' name correctly (Janiš) you have to keep the "Alt" push-button down and type "0154" on the Zahlenquadrat (digits' square?) at the right side of your key board. What you get is: š.

BTW: Meanwhile we have either Czech names or Slovakian names.;)

'Sapporoshez' should mean 'Zaporozhets' (Запорожец ) - the car produced at ZAZ factory (http://en.wikipedia....iki/Zaporozhets ). To be honest, if you didn't mention the name you have for it, it would be hard for me to recognize it. I see this car for the first time, and I don't know why Lada is mentioned, as for production cars there was no connection. The only thing I can suppose could be Lada engine inside. But since it ran in 1150cc category, there's no Lada engine that would meet the demand, while standard Zaporozhets engine was a 1198cc one. There was a ZAZ 966V modification equipped with a 887cc MeMZ-966 engine, though.
Speaking about Greiz, I would assume that to be a name of German city - as far as I know, it was Bernd Mueller's hometown.

I've also found some 'Lada KLG' (or would it be better to call it KLG-Lada?) car mentioned, as driven by Sandor Kovacz. Is it the #100 formula you've posted above?

KLG was a Hungarian spurk-plug making company.
Probably it was the sponsor. Sándor Kovács drove Lada 1.3(not Formula Easter) previously - KLG-Lada - it is possible for those results too.
Check the dates, first race with " No. 100 " was Schleiz 1976.

It is exactly 1976 Schleiz, 1300cc Formula race. I've found it by the link you've posted in connection with Bernd Mueller's car. Just scroll a little higher and you will see it. That's why I thought it could be that car :)

Hungarian Bakony-Company bought licence for spurk-plug production from Smith Industries in 1982.
The full product-line came from UK.
The name of their product was "Bakony-KLG"
They made car-parts for VAZ from 1968, for Polski-Fiat, Dacia, Moskvich, Zastava from 1974 - mainly electrical parts.
From 1985 own developed parts for Lada Samara.

But what does it mean - KLG-Lada - in 1976, I have no idea.
Maybe, just a simple name repeat(copy) from later years start-lists....

Maybe the best modus operandi would be asking the author of the web site - he is known as Puru001 here - for his source of information. Most likely it can be "Illustrierter Motorsport".

I think no. 31 on first foto may me Jiri Vesely (czechoslovakia) in a RAF. And no, 9 in one of last photos is Andrzej Wojciechowski (Poland) in Promot IIa, chassis number 68/83.

I would like to cooperate with somebody in Poland.
I have large collection of rallye-photos - especially Rallye Cup of Peace and Friendship in Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Yu, Cz....Polish-teams etc.....
I am looking for same in Poland, GDR......original slides- negatives prefered.... ;)
(I was in Poland at Rajd-Polski, Rajd-Warsawski 1973 -74 -75...-88 nearly every year)

It's quite fascinating for someone who imagined (obviously very wrongly) that such an individualist exercise as motor racing did not take place under Communism. It's a whole new world for me and I enjoy it very much.

111, 115 - Romanian drivers in Romanian cars. I guess that all the cars of Romanian team were basically of the same type, modified individually by drivers themselves - sometimes beyond recognition. In Estonian magazine "Kehakultuur", the 1988 type of Romanian single-seaters was named GT 88, so I guess the 1986 type was GT 86. No. 115 must be Tiberiu Gedeon (or Gedeon Tiberiu), no. 111 is probably Eugen Peteanu.

Edit: sat, you posted the answers ahead of me while I was spending my time trying to reveal Romanian mysteries :lol: BTW, are you sure they had Dacia engines and not Ladas?

I don't think the two Tomasz Sikora's are related. It is quite a common family name in Poland - actually there is also a famous polish photographer with the same name.

It is worth mentioning that this car (Promot III, chassis 72/85) is currently in Germany and is taking part in Haigo race series.

Unfortunately the race numbers are not discernible here, except no. 21 - Vlastimil Tomášek (CZE) and no. 97 - Klaus Peter Schachtschneider (GDR) - both driving Lada 21011's.

I believe that Zastava has appeared there only by mistake - if you have a look at the first results table on that page, you'll see Schachtschneider and the Lada 21011.

It's absolutely fascinating to see the racing machinery produced behind the Iron Curtain. With shortages of everything material, the resourcefulness of the motor racing enthusiasts there was incredible - with a good head and the heart in the right place, a lot can be achieved with very modest means!

Some of those Formula Easter cars were actually aesthetically very pleasing IMO - the Melkus MT77 is to my eye such a pretty and well-proporioned little car, with its smooth, flowing lines.

More, please!

Andrzej, Grzegorz, do you know anything of the participation of Polish drivers in the first round of the 1972 USSR F2 championship? It took place in Minsk together with the CPF round. As Soviet F2 cars had mainly Moskvich 412 engines (1478 cc), 1.5-litre F. Polonia seems to be the comparable Polish class. The race was won by Madis Laiv but the second and the third places were occupied by Polish drivers, Janusz Kiljanczyk and Józef Kielbania respectively. That's all what I know about it. Do you have anything to add?
