Hi!

Now that they've disqualified 20 % of the field, I'd like to hear/read your opinions on how to deal with the situation in this game. As it happens, the rules are a bit vague in this regard.

Here's what I'd do:

1. I don't know when they fiddled with the brake discs but I'd like to treat qualifying as if nothing unusual happened. Is that OK/fair?

2. The FIA seem to classify the disqualified ahead of the DNF victims. I'd like to not differentiate between the two.

Comments? Suggestions? Voices of reason? Now would be a good time to speak up. I'm particularly interested in your views on the DQ vs DNF issue as that interpretation can have a rather interesting effect on certain duel outcomes (such as the Williams - Renault showdown, which is a bit of a funny one no matter how I decide to rule it).

I'll let this thread linger here for a couple of days before posting the results. That should give you enough time to send feedback. If I don't hear from you, I'll just do as I please. smile.gif

Hi Kismet,

even if its not suiting my bets I would say:

1) sounds quite ok for me

2) the official result is fine for me...

hope this puts me on top of the standings.. wave.gif

I guess since it wasn't clarified in the contest "in the event of a DQ..." you take the original result - then clarify for the future in the event of a DQ. My 2 cents. Thanks Kismet.

Thanks for asking.

OK, a representative sample of 4 seems to agree about qualifying. I expected as much, but yay anyway!

As for the race part, it seems that the choices can be narrowed down to two:

- the original race result stands: DQs are ignored, we'll pretend they never happened
- the official race result stands: DQs are taken into account and considered non-results just like DNFs

Pick one. I'll go with the majority vote; so far it seems to be 2-1 in favor of the official result.

And thank you for responding! Cheers!

IMO the official results are the way to go.

There is only one result; the official (after everything is checked)

I disagree. The comp is about the Race , not scruteneering afterwards.

Half-time and the official result leads 6-3 wave.gif

For what it's worth, I've done the calculations based on both the pre-scrutineering and official results. As far as the championship goes, the difference isn't too drastic. However, the result for the Canadian GP changes quite a bit: for one of the players the difference is no fewer than 25 places, for another it's 16, for yet another 15 etc. I will not reveal who these people are as I don't want to influence their voting. On average, you're likely to gain or drop just a few places.

Use the official results.
chris_canuk
Use the official results. Ultimately they're the only ones that count.

My vote is to use the official results.

I guess, another option would be not to take into account this race at all.

OK, the official result wins by a landslide. I'll post the game results some time tomorrow.
