Before posting the results I'm asking for your advice:

I don't really know how to work with the DQ drivers, especially in question 10 (How many laps alltogether):

A: They drove their laps and their driving had influence on other drivers. If one of them crashed into another driver, he would be retired in spite of the disqualifications.
And Atlas F1 (http://www.atlasf1.com/2004/can/laps.html) list their laptimes so the answer should be 1154.

B: Their cars were illegal from the start and so their laps were illegal, so the correct answer is 868 laps.

What do you think?
Barty
I say that the laps were de facto driven, so I think they shall count.

Ditto here

Option A seems to make the most sense.

I agree with all the above, laps count, winning margin counts, they are included in classified drivers.

It has to be either all in or all out.

For a comparison in Fantasy Manager their qualifying position and laps count. The fact they completed all race laps means they are classified as finished, but their finishing positions don't count as they are classified as DQ.

DQ, in my opinion, is a classification. DNF is not. If they were black flagged during the race they would be a DNF/DQ because they didn't complete all laps. But all 4 drivers were running when MS crossed the finishline.

(besides not having them in could could make a difference to my score this round wink.gif )

Disqualified is not a classification its a disqualification and removal from results. If you follow your thoery through retired is also a classification so in every race the answer is 20 biggrin.gif. The question asks how many drivers will be classified? Answer is 10 everyone else was either retired or disqualified. The gap between 1st and 2nd should be the gap between MS and RB they are classified as first and second 5.108 secs - because that is who was classified as first and second. The number of laps should encompass everyone though as it says how many laps will be completed by everyone in the GP. The Williams' and Toyotas all ran a number of laps in the race.

Finally the other question that is affected is how many drivers finish on the same lap as the winner - again Williams and Toyota should be included in this as they in fact finished on the same lap - well the williamses did.

Every action should be indicated by the wording of the question.

Ah. LB you missed the most important part of my reply. That is:
(besides not having them in could could make a difference to my score this round wink.gif )

ps. you are right about all drivers being classified in a race, they are either classified as finished on not finished as a minimum biggrin.gif

My result actually goes up one then down one under my interpretation of the results :\

I guess with whatever interpretation that is applied there will be winners and losers.

I have to say that your reasoning is much more sound than mine and I defer to your better argument.

I must get more lawyer like when replying to these things.

Note that, as I indicated, Fantasy Manager is being scored exactly along the lines of your argument set out above.

I agree with LB's assesment of how the answers should be based.

Recapitulating the discussion and including my own thoughts I think I'll work with these results:

1. 10th on the grid: Klien
2. biggest gap on grid: BAR
3. First lapped: Webber
4. First retirement: Trulli
5. First team retired: Renault
6. Accidents: Coulthard, Klien, Webber, Massa

(there is no influence of the disqualifications for questions 1-6)

7. How many drivers finished in same lap: 5 (this includes the Williamses, as they finished (!) in the same lap and were DQ afterwards)

8. Margin between 1st and 2nd? 5-10 secs (RB is 2nd according to official results)

9. How many classified? 10 (Disqualified drivers are not classified)

10. How many laps alltogether? 1154 (including Toyotas and Williamses, they actually drove their laps)

I didn't consider your or my guesses from the thread to work this out. Every solution will produce winners and losers and so I hope this is ok for you.

I leave this thread open for discussions because I have no time to calculate the results before tomorrow evening.

Thanks for your thoughts

I think we should do the results as of the end of the race and not factor in the DQ's. We enter this competition with guesses on Qualifying and the Race and not what happens after.
