Anyone has had experience going in any of the tours organized by Page & Moy? They have advertised quite extensively and my friend and I are contemplating giving them a try for some of the coming GPs. But before we jump into it, it would be good to always check on the experience of others - so anyone out there willing to share the good, bad and ugly?? smile.gif

I haven't used them recently, but in the past I travelled almost every year for about 15 years with them. I often bought a package from P & M (travel, hotel and race admission) but sometimes simply bought tickets through them and met a courier at or near the circuit to collect them.

There were never any problems with the services that P & M provided.

I used them several times between 1964 -93 and never had any serious problems that I recall, unlike another outfit called Tee Mill that put us in a hotel in Toulon,100 miles from Monaco!

You have to ask yourself a few questions before using a 'travel agent'.

Could you book your hotel and or flights by yourself?
Can you get race tickets yourself?

If you answer yes to either you should do it yourself and save a large amount of money on what is purely logistics.
That's really what you pay them for.

However,
They are a great last minute option if you have no other possibility

If you want to be with a bunch of Brits and typically avoid assimilation into the local culture, Page and Moy are a comfy cucoon.....

I prefer to be as far away from that lot as possible.

What if you answer yes I can purchase my own tickets but the only to get a hotel room is through Page and Moy (or vice versa)? Don't they also provide tranportation, maybe a dinner with an F1 personality and a couple of other things? Or is that someone else.

I've travelled with them for the last 4 years and never had any problems.

I do agree that you could do it cheaper yourself and I'd go for this option with almost any other kind of holiday, however the reason I started travelling with them was that I had a nightmare when I tried to book it all separately for Barcelona in 2001.

I had Thomas Cook phone me up 6 days before departure and tell me that I couldn't go because my hotel was over booked. "it's very busy that weekend because of the Grand Prix " they told me!!! Anyhow they eventually redeemed themselves by covering all the extra costs of a Page & Moy package and since then I'e been a little nervous about booking it all separately!

No personal experience with Page and Moy but I used GP Tours when I went to Montreal last year and while I certainly could have booked the hotel and tickets on my own, the hosted events on Fri & Sat evenings were more that worth the extra cost.

Listened to and able to meet Peter Windsor, Mark Webber, Alan McNish and publisher of F1 Racing (can't remember his name) to name a few. Made up for it being a very rainy weekend when we weren't really able to enjoy the city of Montreal.

aloha.

Is the 'GP Tours'mentioned here the American firm? When I went to the US with Page & Moy( to Pheonix in 1990 and Long Beach in 93),GPT actually provided the local services as sub-contractor to P&M. Seem to remember we were told the reverse arangement applied when GPT customers come to England.
