Ive just moved to Melbourne and want to make sure i get the best experience possible, what are the best grandstands for this GP??? how about paddock passes. Anyone have some advise?
Forget paddock passes, unless you know someone connected... Best seats are Fangio, S/F line (section M) See the start of the race, podium... All G/stand tix allow G.A access.. It's best to spend fri and sat in G.A, then Q in your seat.. Brabham/Jones are good to, but very over priced for what you see...

I've tried the following stands:
Schumacher (99)
Senna (00,01)
Brabham (02,04)
Jones (03)
Clark (05)
for 2006, we are going in the Clark stand again... it was a great stand very good price compared to the ones on the main straight/first corner, and you are close to many great G.A. viewing spots if you get sick of the one spot.

Hi!
2006 Aussie GP will be my first GP, so I am looking for some advice also.
Exactly what can you see from the Clark stand? Is it worth spending the extra money for a grandstand seat? Or would GA be ok?

Grandstand seats, particularly Fangio stand....
Better off toward the front, or the back? Just looking at Ticketmaster now, I can get seats as close as row C. However, I'm a bit concerned that the view so close to the track will be obscured by the fencing.
Any advice?
Wheeeeee!!!!!!! Tickets arrived in the mail last Friday.
We went for the 4 stand option. I faffed around for too long and Fangio was sold out for Sunday so are in Piquet (Thu), Fangio (Fri), Schumacher (Sat), Clark (Sun).
Now.... tell me about this Metropole thingy?

The Australia Grand Prix is coming up on March 30th - April 2 and I'm personally excited as I will be attending this year as I'm visiting a bunch of friends who are currently working / traveling in OZ.
Thanks to the others who have posted about the grandstands that's going to help forsure when deciding what tickets to book.
What the night life like?, are there some fun places to party and what are the good clubs check out?
We are currently looking at booking a hotel or possible an apartment in the city for a week give or take and any suggestions would be welcomed.
I'm also curious how this is going to compare to the Canadian Grand Prix, if any has attended them both and can compare with regards to popularity, partying ect?
Thanks for any input you have to offer.

The FIGP in Melbourne is four days after the end of the Commonwealth Games.
It seems to me that airlines might be increasing the number of flights
to Melbourne in order to get all the games teams home.
Fans may get a good deal by filling near empty aircraft if there is any justice in the world
Lobby your Travel Agents people
Tickets booked, accomodation booked.
Bring on the Aussie GP!
Senna, Prost and Shuey stands are good (last corner stands), get see the cars coming into the pits slowly (for a f1 car !)
Most stands have a large screen tv opposite.
Got a
link here of the view from the shuey stand.

Hi Guys,
Well, I'm in Melbourne at the moment for the Australian Grand Prix, track opens tomorrow for the first support sessions such as Carerra Cup and Formula 3. An F1 car hits the track tomorrow for the speed comparison but thats a 2005 formula 1 car, not the current one.
I don't have any hosting at the moment, so I'm going to have to upload them all to Sony Imagestation.
First of all, I have some photos today from today's F1 Driver and Tennis Star tennis match.
The following drivers were there:
Giancarlo Fisichella
Fernando Alonso
Mark Webber
Alex Wurz
Christian Klien
Nico Rosberg
Jaques Villeneuve
Fillipe Massa
Nick Heidfeld
Check them out here:

More to come!
