Crikey, 380W, the drivers are difficult to locate, the others are almost impossible! Cal Rayborn was by far the best US motorcycle racer of the 60s yet he's disappeared without trace.
Incidentally, I know someone, who probably wants to remain discrete, who regularly passes Graham Hill's grave, and who's told me he intends to tidy it up.
According with my friend Klaus Nerger of the webpage
www.knerger.de, Alfred Neubauer is buried at the Cemetery of Aldingen (Baden-Wuertemberg), Southern Germany. I made the memorial for Find a Grave......................

I assume you mean road racer. If so, then I share your opinion.

Yes, I did, but I'm embarassed to say that he came to prominence just after I drifted away from motorcycle racing. I joined the Army and went aboad (to your country, in fact. Nienburg/M.Gladbach). In the sidecar category Fath, Scheidegger, Deubel and Vincent were the big names when I was interested. I'm therefore sorry that the biog I wrote on his memorial page was so brief, but if you think you can add something useful, please go ahead.

Thanks Paul I didnt check the graves site before I posted ! There is a good paragraph about Major Harvey in David Friths book about Cricketers suicides Silence of the Heart

Dec 4 2006, 21:05
Major Cyril Harvey Britains most dashing driver in the 1920's shot himself in 1936 at the age of 41 while on a camping holiday at St Keverne in Cornwall. In 1923 he had beaten off strong European competition to cross the line first in his 1500cc Alvis at Brooklands banked track. Bristol born Harvey well spoken and from a wealthy background was gassed and escaped from German captivity in the First World War.Joining the Alvis company as a sales rep and chief driver he gave the company the most enormous lift with his Brooklands victory over 15 laps clocking an average of 93 mph and bringing Britain its first major triumph. But he was remembered for the bad luck that seemed to dog him. He saw his first wife killed in a car accident and his second moved out on medical advice, which was later assumed to mean that he had syphilis. When he killed himself his family hushed it up and 60 years later it was still not known where his grave was to be found. In 1997 Peter Black president of the Alvis Club de France offered a case of wine to anybody who could produce a picture of Harveys grave. As reported in the Times it was discovered by an Alvis enthusiast, but soon after presenting the reward by way of an extension of the Harvey jinx Black was murdered during a robbery at his chateau in Provence
from Silence of the Heart by David Frith ( Mainstream 2001)
Crikey! Sounds a bit like a storyline from a Robert Goddard novel.
Thanks for taking the trouble to give us the paragraph, Bernard.

Crikey
What a story! By the way you wouldn't have found it on FindaGrave - I created his memorial page only after reading your post. I shall add some of what you told us to the memorial page, if you don't mind. Presumably his illness (which I shalln't mention) would have had no successful outcome in those days hence the shotgun. His obituary on 4th August 1936 of the Times mentions his serious crash in 1932 ending his racing career, and had falled off a horse the day before his death. He had also left Alvis and was self-employed. It seems he had had a lot of bad luck in his life.

As mentioned on the 'obscure English driver' thread I spent some time this morning seeking Brooklands MG fatality Michael Watson's grave in Tilford Churchyard, a couple of miles away from my home. There are many illegible headstones in this beautifully serene country cemetery, but then I happened upon one which is entirely legible, and significant.
All in the same plot, marked by a hefty rough-hewn cube of granite, rest
Selwyn Francis Edge of Napier fame,
his cousin Cecil Edge of Napier fame,
and S.F.'s widow.
Coo.

I do not think there is a grave sight for Dickie, after he was cremated his ashes where spread in the garden of his long time friend and sponsor Sam Coupland. My father was very good friends with Dickie and he was there at the time of the scattering as he had flown from South Africa to collect all Dickies possesions after his crash at the Nurburgring.

Thank you Peter, I have PM'd you.
Re John Hartle, I received a nice letter from Mrs Margaret Wood, John's sister, the other day and it seems his funeral took place in Northampton after his fatal crash at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough. I have written to his widow Shelagh who has since remarried. Apparently she was once Mrs Bill Lomas, another well known works rider.
