Can anyone help?

I have recently found an old christmas card from 1939 from my grandfather, Fre Walker. On it is depicted an old hillclimber called The WASP.
Aparently my grandfather built this car (WASP stands for Walker All Spare Parts) and it was driven by Ernie Moor at Shelsley Walsh. aprt from this card I have absolutely no information about the car or about the driver . If anyone could help me with even the smallest bit of info. I would be grateful.
Thanx

Michael Walker :)

Michael

Winston Teague has the car at the moment and is brilliant owner / driver of this car. He came to Shelsley for the 100th celebrations over the August weekend of 19, 20 and 21. Unfortunately he had some problems, but it was there with the other 'insects'.

I have some photos of the car at home, but I am away until Sunday for the time being. I can easily forward them upon return.

I have Winston's email address should you wish to message me.

Hope this helps

Is that the same car, Toby?
Jack Moor ran several Wasps between 1923 and the late 1950s
How old would your grandfather have been in 1923, Michael?

A quick check of the John Bolster book SPECIALS would be in order as WASP features.

David ,

my grandfather was born in 1895 , so he would have been 28 in 1923.
Thanx for all the photos. they've given me a great deal of pleasure. If there's an event with the car in it , I'll have to try to get over to England (I now live in Germany).
Was the drivers name Jack or Ernie, on the Christmas card it's from an E.Moor ?

Yes Twin 'Orange' Window - indeed WASP was there in July when you came along.

The car ran better in July. Teague has four wheel drifting down to a perfection out of Kennel, Crossing and the Esses - all parts of the course that are not straight in fact...

Was a good weekend in July at Shelsley. Shame you missed the August festivities. We will have to do a reminiss sometime over the winter. I just have to see your capacity for 4 cups of coffee in the morning again. Shares in Nescafe, Sir?

BTW, I am going to voice the Shelsley Walsh 100th DVD next week, so should be out second/third week into October. If I can ask Mr Moderator's permission, can I inform people as to the availablity of the DVD through these pages?

No probs. No doubt you'll be able to arrange a suitable discount for TNFers.

Oh , yes please and a complete review of it's contents......all the details of where to get it .
Likewise the Goodwood revival when anyone has DVD availability on that.

According to http://www.500race.org/index.htm (click 'WASP' under 'Marques'), Jack Moor began with GN-based specials in 1924, so this could in fact very well be the same Jack Moor.
