That's very impressive.

I've never had the time, or more importantly had someone pay me to take Illustrator that far.

Excellent stuff smile.gif

In the reply widow there are icons for placing images, quotes etc.

If you run the mouse over them it tells you what they are.

in this case it's "Insert image"

Click on it and paste http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/7083/lotus1h.jpg into the box...

...and you get.

Tony Matthews, I'm afraid, another cheap quickie. David Phipps is a journalist and photograper, probably retired, and for many years was Jim Allington's agent.

Sorry Macoran don't have the original any longer. It was from a book and very close to the spine. Hence the poor quality.

GBM, Marc - Gill, O'Brien, Marriott - Barry Gill, ex-FMC, journalist and broadcaster, Anna O'Brien, ex-publishing and, I think, PR, and my one-time flat-mate, Andrew Marriott, ex-Assistant Editor of Motor Sport magazine, one-time F2 Team Manager, set up GBM as a Sports Sponsorship Company, liasing with teams, individuals - i.e. James Hunt, Barrie Sheen - and potential sponsors. Later the company becams CSS - Championship Sporting Specialists, and I, much to my surprise, was at one time the Art Director, although I was never told this or, indeed, paid! Weird. At one stage in my career, just before I left Motor Sport and Motoring News untill a couple of years after I left, GBM acted as sort of agents, any artwork that they needed was sent my way, but eventually I was left entirely to my own devices.

I seem to remember posting a detail from the rear-end of the working drawing of the T79, here is part of the front-end. The middle is, strangely, somewhere inbetween...

...just popped by to watch the traffic...and got run over!

Holy cow, Marc - you surely must have the biggest collection of racing car cutaways on this planet!

I really like Gordon Bruce's style - crisp and informative, and very "period". Got anymore?

I guess my biggest claim to fame on this thread was merely to set the ball rolling...

Re: "Nibble" (may ocassionally be connected with "nipple", but that's probably for another forum) - Marc, you may have come across "nibbler" or "nibbling" as in a tool or its use for cutting sheet metal...

(just studying my prized T79 working drawing full scale copy, gloat, gloat...)

Anyway, time for my medicationnnnn....

Anders! There you are! Well, it's your fault I am in front of this damned screen so often! I had forgotten the sheet metal 'nibbler' connection, but it is strange how many words are indeed connected, or associated, with the femail form, however loosely. On second thoughts, no, it's not strange at all!

Thanks Ibsen, another very nice BB cutaway. I wish I had done as many cutaways as he has...

Tony, your line drawings are like crazy good! Amazing, simply amazing. As we say here in the deep south, "I'd give my left nut to draw that good." I mean that as the most sincere compliment. This thread is filled with so many gems. Thank you all for your posts....I need a bigger hard drive!

Here is a BT45 from an issue of Motor Oct 15 1977. It accompanied an article on BT45 by Mike Doodson, but isn't signed or credited in the story heading.
I believe it may be a Brian Hatton.

I found a copy of this cutaway in Quattroruote (can't remember number and year) signed by "Technical Art".

At this site http://www.marketpress.info/notiziario_det.php?art=6957 an interview with Giulio Betti (in italian).

Well, thank you DHF - we say similar things in East Anglia...

I was asked to contribute a part of my anatomy, but refused - I just had to work harder, but it was worth it in the end, just to be anatomically complete.

Ettore's Type 59

That's the first time I've seen THAT! I assume LAT/Motor Sport knew about it, I certainly didn't - not that I would have benefitted from it's use, even if I'd still been at Standard House. I'd forgotten I'd done the Type 59, a beautiful car, that one belonging, at the time, to Neil Corner.

When you say 'a good ole one' Marc, do you mean me or the cutaway!
