I wonder what happens when this flipped scan is placed over the second of Ibsen's Ferrari 312B3's! Actually, is it 312B3 or 312T3? I always thought it was 'T', as in Transversale...

I see what you mean Tony. It'll need some negative projection, juxtaposing and drawing reversal to get the battery and the gear lever to pop over to the other side, but........
Now consider Paolo d'Alessio's B3



Re B3 or T3 ,yours and Davey's are both B3 models. The tranversale had hardly any box casing protruding beyond the final drive casing,caliper rear face, let alone having a battery alongside.

Look at the Renault R26 drawing on this page. (towards the bottom, copyright Renault) I am not sure if I can post a picture or not.

Also some further up on the page of the Renault R25.

As it says copyright Renault the answer is no. It's not a cutaway in the strict meaning of the word, but that doesn't matter, I suppose.

I am a little confused because in post 3256 on this page there is a drawing with the copyright symbol by Terry Davey and yet it is posted. Is Ibsenop Terry Davey? As we know Terry Davey drew for Haynes manuals, but I do not know if this drawing is from one of those.

No, I don't think Haynes ever did a 312B3 manual.

Ah, the The Not-so-young Masked Hero! I must admit that I'm not absolutely sure what we can get away with - some say you must not post without permission, but a lot is posted with just an acknowledgement, perhaps that is all you need to do. I own the copyright of a lot of my work, but not all. I feel it is OK for me to post work that is someone elses copyright as I did the work, but I may be wrong. I own the copyright of all my working drawings, so that's OK.

Ah, Gwendolyn! Haven't seen her for months - she has an address book the size of the Yellow Pages for North America, and does tend to renew old infatuations fairly frequently, so my time with her depends on the occasional lull in her social diary. By coincidence she had a very good friend call Aurora Beauchamp-Place, a good-time gal of the old school, but she went to South America some years ago, and contact was lost. Like some of her generation - not to mention the Mitfords and Moseleys - she was rather easily swayed by Teutonic ideals - and uniform - so may be holed up in Bolivia with an old flame.

That looks very nice, crisp and clean, Al. Strange that the reflection in the inside face of the LH rear wing endplate is wrong - you may think I'm being very picky, but it's the sort of thing that I see without looking, it just hit me in the eye! Thanks for getting us back on track!

It's going the wrong way. The reflection carries on as if it's at right angles to the end plate, but it's not so should reflect back at a similar, opposite angle....if you catch my drift.

Yes Tony, it's confusing.
Only when you have the time to looking to every one, absorving all the details, you can tell the diferences.
Some cars are only an evolution of the precedent with little diferences between them.
And between races new modifications.
It's the same with the Penskes and other cars.

I looked in the recent index that was so kindly provided on page 76, post 3009 and did not see this one. It is of the Stutz Black Hawk LSR car driven by Frank Lockhart. I'm hoping one of the resident "gurus" could stitch it together, if it is of interest. I feel like I'm an outsider stepping into a private club with this thread. I think I've got quite a few other cutaways that are not represented in the thread, but it seems that they are mostly of this format and I hate to impose on you who are far more accomplished than myself to clean up my mess.
Anyway, thanks for the continuation of the topic, it is absolutely intriguing. Brian

Thanks Brian, nice to have some more CO La Tourette, and such a charismatic car! There are several here who like a challenge, so I don't expect it will be long before a 'stitched' version appears.

If it's a club, I'm a new member compared with some - actually I feel the same 'clubiness' with the CART and Indycar threads - but as far as the cutaways are concerned, my view is the more the merrier.

If it's a club then I'm sure everyone's welcome

Most of the stuff posted on here is of European origin so it'll be good to see more examples from your part of the world.

Anyone interested in BOB FREEMAN stuff might want to dig out their old Motor Sport magazines. In the April 2001 issue, there was a nice feature on the man. Included were several watercolours and sketches. I've scanned the article for myself, but copyright considerations prevent me from posting it here.

It'd be nice if Motor Sport did similar for Mr. Matthews, to show his working drawings to the non-TNF folk out there.

I had that Stutz LSR car scanned at pretty high resolution previously, so thought this would be a good excuse to complete the cleanup on it. Hope this works for you guys. This is the Clarence LaTourette illustration of the Stutz Black Hawk LSR car out of 1928 that Frank Lockhart crashed at Daytona in the surf on a run. This is out of Sports Car Illustrated, December, 1958,
