Mods I hope you don't mind me putting this here.

Just planning ahead really. Have been going for the last three years and we love it. Should be a few of us going this year, and the plan is to sit in a grandstand on the Saturday and watch the action having a few drinks, camp overnight, then have a wonder around on the Sunday to see all of the stands and mini events etc. The problem is that the nearest camping is four miles away. This will prove troublesome if it's 1) dark and 2) we're hammered. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to camp a stones throw away from the grounds? We are probably only talking a couple of tents and two cars maximum? Has anyone on here camped at Goodwood? Thanks in advance.

Hi. There were certainly campsites closer than that. The year before last we noticed a couple of sites on the right as we drove in to the main parking field, only a few hundred yards away from the entrance gate at the top of the hill [the one that was close to the Toyota stand, if that means anything]. Last year we were in the bottom parking field and I don't remember seeing any sites nearby there.
Hope that helps, but I don't know how to book places.
This year we booked accommodation a bit late and we're in a pub in Petersfield, which'll mean an early start on each day! Nice pub though...
