but their website still shows 3.45

EDIT: ok... tens site says 2.45.... but rpm still says 3.45

spose ill drag my arse out of bed at 2.30 to be safe and end up sitting there for an hour watching video smash hits or something equally as lame.

I thought they were showing MotoGP from midnight until 3:45, which I know doesn't make sense as the three races (delayed) can be fit into less than 2 1/2 hours.

I'm driving to Adelaide at 7:00, so I really don't want to get up any earlier than I need to especially as I will watch the bikes on Fox before going to bed cool.gif
I will also get up at 2:30ish, maybe they will show it live from 3:00 as with Canada??
Nasty McBastard
yeah, youd assume theyll show it live, so 2.45 must be the go.

surely even c10 wouldnt delay a gp thats on at 3am
confucius
Well it says Moto GP til 3:15, and half an hour of Video Hits til 3:45.

This is stupid. I need to be up for work so I'd like to get as much sleep as possible. I'd be pissed if I woke up at 3:45 and find out I missed an hour of the race.

If I was programming, I'd show it live and then insert the filler to take them up to the morning rubbish. But then again, I'm not programming. I'll get up at 2:45 and hope.
Mat
its 2.45 guys no stress!

Adrian,

definately come down to the CDT! We normally show both Moto & F1 if they clash! There is 4 tv's there now smile.gif
caedwa
They definitely said (and displayed on screen) on RPM that coverage of the GP starts at 2:45 eastern time. The online program guides don't seem to have been updated though, so watch out if you're using mythtv or similar!

Damn if we don't get this one live evil.gif evil.gif mad.gif

Two races where I hope to be able to follow live timing. Live timing is addictive, once you use it, you can't live without it frown.gif

Thanks dude.

4 TV's of motorsport action! Can't wait. And lucky for me the one weekend I am in Melbourne there are both F1 and MotoGP races.

Do you guys also show GP2? I have never seen one bit of footage from GP2 cry.gif

What time does the party start on a Sunday?

See ya then guys.
Mat
yeah, GP2 is shown as well. Sunday race will start (i think) at 6:30pm. I will confirm closer to the date.

keep in mind also, that there will be live qual on saturday (and possibly gp2 race 1 as well, i need to double check that though).

Grr. Stupid %$!&ing c10. I need to do a bit driving today, so for the first time in a long time I recorded the race instead of getting up. Press PLAY and there's 46 laps remaining.

Good ol' hindsight, but I should have checked here before I set the recorder and went to bed and I would have programmed a 2:30 start instead of a 3:30 start.

I really can't wait for the day that Foxtel gets F1 and I don't have to deal with these FTA channels with ads and delayed starts...

The solution is simple....

To get Ten to show the races live all we need is

1. A hidden camera in the drivers toilets and showers.
2. Someone uglier than Gretel Killeen to do the intros.
3. Each driver to be pissed before the start of the race.
4. Schuey to hold down one of the umbrella girls so Montoya can rub his crutch in her face.....

Ten will show every race live, thirty minute highlights every night with an adults only show every Thurs.

Oh, do not forget the 1900 phone polls where we get to vote out a driver each week..... see ya JPM

Remember the part where they say 'telecast times are subject to change'

how many times will it take people to learn? Its not that hard guys.

Don't trust tv guides when it comes to sporting telecast times. That is what the internet is for.

Axe Big Brother: Howard
Monday Jul 3 08:44 AEST

Prime Minister John Howard has urged the Ten Network to cancel the controversial reality television show Big Brother.

Family groups and politicians have again called for the show to be axed after two housemates were thrown off the show for sexual misconduct.

Police have ruled out a criminal investigation into an incident of alleged sexual misconduct in the Big Brother house as the communications watchdog looks into whether or not the show breached broadcasting standards.

Mr Howard said it was a matter of taste and called on the network to self-regulate.

"I think it is just a question of good taste," Mr Howard told Macquarie Radio.

"I don't like heavy-handed regulation. The business community is always saying to me 'let us self-regulate'.

"Well here's a great opportunity for Channel 10 to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid program off the air."

Communications Minister Helen Coonan said she had asked the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) to determine whether any code of conduct had been breached.

"I have spoken with the chairman of ACMA this morning and he will be providing an urgent assessment about possible breaches of codes of conduct relating to television content," she said.

A Queensland police spokeswoman said they had received no formal complaint about the incident.

"The producers of the program contacted police late (Sunday) morning inviting them to view a video of an incident involving the three contestants," she said.

"Following that viewing and, after speaking to the three Big Brother participants and producers, police say at this stage there is insufficient evidence for any criminal investigation."

Family First senator Steve Fielding has also been a vocal critic of the show and wants it axed.

"How many more warnings before action is taken? How many more sleazy incidents do we need before this show is evicted?"

Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley also joined the issue.

"If my advice is worth anything to the folk who run Channel 10, and how they choose to conduct themselves is their business, I'd say `make this Big Brother the last'," he told journalists.

Secretary of the Victorian Family Council Bill Muehlenberg said the show should be axed immediately in the wake of the incident but he believed some at Network Ten would be "rubbing their hands in glee" at the publicity it would generate.

"We have been calling it Big Brothel all along. Brothels are concerned about sex and money, and so are they," he said.

Australian Democrats senator Andrew Bartlett says Big Brother should be left alone by meddling politicians.

"It is politicians trying to be Big Brother that we really need to be concerned about," Senator Bartlett said.

"If anyone in the Big Brother house broke the law, then it can be dealt with by the legal system," he said.

"Attempting to force a television show off the air because of an incident that wasn't even screened on television is an excessive intrusion into the lives of Australians by moralising, preaching politicians who want to control how people live their lives."

Security guards escorted "Ashley", a pseudonym for 20-year-old Michael Cox, of Perth, and 21-year-old "John", whose real name is Michael Bric, of Melbourne, from the Big Brother house on the Gold Coast following what the show's producers said was a "breach of the rules".

Contestants were filmed constantly during show and the incident, which occurred about 4am (AEST) Saturday was not broadcast, but it was streamed on the internet.

Housemate John was seen lying behind fellow housemate Camilla, his arm over her. Ashley was shirtless and kneeling on the bed with his crotch in her face, his back is to the camera, his hand over the front of his pants.

On Sunday's episode of the Network Ten show, Camilla spoke about the incident in the "Diary Room", saying it happened "just in fun".

"... I wasn't offended as such but I did think they took it a little bit too far but, you know, we laughed it off," she said.

"I think as soon as I said enough's enough, it stopped. I've known these guys for a while and we were just mucking around."

Shortly afterwards, the Ten Network showed footage of Big Brother telling the shocked housemates that the pair had been removed.

Michael Bric's father, Herman Bric, said he was upset about his son being removed from the house.

"To see him spread like this (with headlines of) sex scandal, that's not him," an upset Mr Bric told the Seven Network.

Earlier this year, Network Ten cut short its season of Big Brother - Adults Only.

oh dont worry. There are plenty people at the pub who complain about that coverage too!

Look at the ITV thread. Most aussies would kill for ITV coverage, yet the brits seem more frustrated with their coverage then australians do with ch.10!

Was it just me or were the ad breaks alot longer and more frequent?? Was that due to ITV breaks or an increase in F1 sponsorship for Channel 10??

C.10 take long add breaks whenever the safety car has been deployed during the live races this year! The worst was Albert Park, they missed quite abit by the time they returned!

Hey dudes.

Just wanted to thank all you guys I meet at the CDT over the weekend for your hospitality. I felt right at home and it was great to meet you all.

I hope to back soon.

And for those of you who haven't been to the CDT I say get down there and enjoy what it has to offer. Not just live racing but great company.

Thanks dudes

And if any of you come down to Adelaide let me know so we can catch up. up.gif

Was I the only one who found it really unprofessional and stupid, how the Channel 10 commentaters blurted out Michael had retired, right after the race, before allowing Michael to announce it in the press conference himself?
Sort of ruined it a little hearing it from those two twats rather from the man himself dont you think?

Typical bumbling 10.

Actually - I watched the race at the CDT and while MS was on the podium, James Allen was already telling the audience about his retirement - something like.."Ferrari have issued a press release to the media...ist official now...Michael has retired" So ITV did the same. Im not keen on the Ch10 commentary so I agree - would have preferred to hear it from MS himself - but Ferrari released it before the press conference so there was little anyone could do.

Cheers mate - you should make your way down to Melbourne and the CDT on one of the asian gp's (Japan coincides with Bathurst) as they are in the afternoon! up.gif

I think the difference is ITV is live whereas Ch10 is delayed - so it's even stupider for Ch10 to do it. It would have been much better to have Michael break it to us.

Was I the only one who was annoyed they wasted like 5-10 minutes on Brock's death? Look it's sad and all but it has sweet bugger all to do with F1, and they are delaying the coverage ..

I might just do that. up.gif

Although don't know if I'll hit the beers so early as I've heard the tradition is on Bathurst Sunday drunk.gif

BTW can anyone think of a reason why TEN is showing the Chinese GP at 10:30pm?

There is no clash with AFL etc.

Surely with the MS retirement, two point championship difference etc they can show it live?

i agree with that. they would have found out from someone monitoring the itv audio anyway...the producer would have told them to say it. i'm not sure what you saw in australia but what actually happened on itv was that they didn't take an ad break from the end of the race up until the end of the podium. it took a lot longer than usual to get to the podium, because MS was hugging everyone. while waiting for the drivers to do the weigh in etc allen said that schumi had apparently announced his retirement to the team over the radio on the warm-down lap, and then they cut to ted, standing with chris dyer below the podium, holding the press release. ted then interviewed dyer who was looking at ted's copy of the press release as he hadn't seen it yet. pretty good tv, and doubtless better than ch 10...i still would've rather heard it from schumi.

*I watched F1 in Australia for the first time in years - thank God I don't have to do it very often. Those guys are dicks, the race isn't live so you can't even watch the live timing and the ad breaks are ridiculous
clef
Thank god for my TopField PVR. I start it recording at 10:30 and set it to pause.. then go away and do other stuff for 30 mins.

Then I come back, fast forward through whatever show went overtime, fast forward over the ch10 intro time waster.

Then I can watch it in peace until the ad break, and which point I fast forward it through the ad breaks.

If I run out of buffer, I set it to pause at the ad break, go and do something else for a bit, then come back and keep skipping the ads smile.gif

you think that's bad - they put six-ad breaks into the live broadcast of the aussie GP! you'd think they'd work out some way to draw in revenue elsewhere and do shorter ITV-style breaks, but no...

does anyone know when they're going to run the japanese GP? are they going to put it back-to-back with bathurst, like they did last year? or are MW and williams performing too poorly to bother?

I wouldn't mind the Ads with a delayed telecast, if onely they not drop any race content. Then the Ads woould not take away the race content. I have never understood why they don't do that.
Raelene
MP

that's what I couldn't understand...and then to say "ITV are now back from their ad breaks" like ITV have long ad breaks (they have 30s commercials).

no reason for it to be delayed by an hour either - they don't need that BS at the start.

i feel for you guys no being able to watch the live timing - that is great to see what's really happening as dumb and dumber (Martin and James) miss so much and get so much stuff wrong, it's nice t be able to see what is really happening.

The Media have to generate income some how. They do have to pay salaries like most businesses...
repcobrabham
as i understand it, we do see the entire race (delayed) : we go on our three-minute marathon of hot and sexy babes waiting for your call / a new image every day on your mobile then pick up pretty much exactly where the race left off. LD and NC waffle on for the 30-60 secs ITV are in ad break live, then "cross back" once JA and MB come back.

i can't remember the last time i watched a european race to its conclusion (probably monaco) as i simply can't stay up that late, and i can't be arsed taping and rewatching the next day. but as i said, what really sh*ts me is how many ad breaks they put on during the aussie GP. the first time i saw that after living in the UK and ireland, i freaked.

they should use the ch9 footy show model of giving their sponsors lots of exposure during the telecast, thus reducing the needs for ads that break the broadcast up. it's not as if the advertisers enjoy any goodwill from viewers - fans probably vow not to purchase the products / services that bugger up their spectating enjoyment.

edit #1 - cos: i work in the media. you make a fair point, but i believe i offer a fair alternative here. edit #2: to explain further (for the multitudes who don't watch either of the footy shows) the sydney-based show that serves rugby league supporters regularly goes for 30 mins between ad breaks. these are the standard six-ad breaks, but if ch10 could gather comparable revenue by comparable means - for a one-off national broadcast that is huge - they could do 10-minute stints with only two ads in between. that would be acceptable.
Raelene

nope - ITV ads are only 30 seconds long- those two dicks waffled on longer than that...and more times.

IN NZ we have 3 lots of ads during the broadcast (it is on pay tv) and those ads are 30 seconds - we don't always go to an ad when ITV do - so we know how long their ads are.

I'm glad I have it on Pay tv...I used to think Chanel 9 were bad - but 10 are worse. I was so frustrated knowing my bloody husband had already watched the race...I made sure I turned off my blackberry so he didn't email me the results ;)wink.gif

ITV breaks have two ads or an ad and (inexplicably) a network promo. whenever the commentary switches, neil or leigh will say ITV are coming back from the ad and james allen will come in with "welcome back..." or somesuch. i criticise ch10 for many things, but i'm pretty sure they're on the level about this. note also that it is always JA who calls the commercial break, not NC or LD. perhaps it's been a while since you suffered aussie coverage?

also, i like the oz federal govt charter that keeps certain sports on free-to-air, but F1 is so poorly treated (and judging by the timeslot and the quality of advertising, it has few viewers in aus) it may as well be on pay TV. i for one would reconsider my continued refusal to sign up if it became a feature of foxtel.

I guess those ads are one reason why I don't reply the F1 races in front of children. If my family saw them, they'd wonder what is wrong with auto enthusiasts. Well, hang on, there must be something wrong with us for those ads to earn their keep from the very few who watch the races.

I now gather that its not possable to see the whole race because the UK feed we get is interrupted by ads ... I saw F1 on cable in China, and I don't recall the ads. The German F1 seems much more exciting, and with great commentary, I don't recall the ads bothering me, but maybe their German did not irritate me. I enjoyed watching the race in hotel room in Germany much more than here in Australia. I only wish I could have better understood what Nicki Lauda was on about ...

i hope not

c10 are as shit as c9 ever were for delaying gp's in our tme zone....but that effort at japan last year was woeful. they butchered the best race of the season to squeeze it into an hour and a bit timeslot.

if theyre gonna do that they should just fuck off and show it all at 11pm
