Any one have any tips for the driving style sliders, I seem to get shitty results no matter where they are.

Nov 26 2007, 17:31
Where you place some of the sliders depends on some of the driver characteristics you choose when starting a game. So generally in my experience you want to keep most of your sliders in the 60's and increase the slider for whichever characteristic you chose by 5-10 points over what you consider prudent. Also keep Pit Stop performance by your team and mechanical sympathy around 30-40.
For example: Spatial Awareness affects aggression and you can get away with your slider in the 70s; Consistency affects pace, mechanical sympathy affects mechanical failures (you can place slider in 70s vs 30s or 40s), and thinker affects your risk slider in practice sessions (you can place risk at 100 and you'll almost never crash).
PS- A bunch of the characteristics are ambiguous and very few people know what they do (like Wisdom, Rule Breaker/Bender).

Nov 26 2007, 18:15
I know what Wisdom does....
panzani
Nov 26 2007, 19:49
I'll test Wisdom for the first time in more or less 1 hour. If my Super Aguri grabs pole in any of the 3 attempts, I'll be sure I got it correctly...
Control Freak is very evident as well, I think.
Edit: Didn't grab the pole, but I am sure I got it anyways...

One thing I learned from Batracer is Never experiment with those characteristic/skills sliders. If you're wrong, your championship becomes very long.
Breadmaster
Nov 27 2007, 07:31
I think you are wrong there mate.....you always need to experiment or you'll never get any better....
Gilles4Ever
Nov 27 2007, 09:04
And just when you think you have settings that are working you have a season like I am having in Champ Car, finished 1 race so far, crashed 3 times in qually :/
Breadmaster
Nov 27 2007, 09:57
Or you think you have a slider setup that works really well then Jules patches the game and changes everything.......

Fully agree!
Until now I've never repeated my DCs. And every and each one of them revealed some hidden surprise, if I can say so.
Can't wait to try a a clone of that former German driver's trait! Can't imagine what Charisma and Bender will do together!

Is anyone interested in another season? (post Christmas.....of course)
I intend to run my usual Ted's New Year game.
This time round I'm looking to play the ultimate silly season using the new KT settings to run a destruction derby of the highest order! more mayhem the better! finish only 12 laps down? bah - you're hardly trying ;)
who's with me?
Makarias
Dec 1 2007, 17:32
Score as few points as possible? I'd love to try that!*
Another thing I'd like to try once is single player teams in Champcar, but that could be put on hold for a while I suppose. If we have a destruction derby in January, the next thing is probably gonna be the compulsory F1 2008 series, innit.
*I'm actually not trying this in the current series, believe it or not...

Count me in. And it is pretty obvious I already started practising in the current series, with reasonable success, I must add.

Happy New Year Batracers!
Ted's new year crash spectacular will be coming soon - any preferences for series?
(i don't suppose it matter much but i thought we'd have a change from champcars although the ovals are funny....any thoughts??)
choice is of the following:
MR2 World Series
F1 2007
F1 1986
V8 Supercars 2006
A1GP
Champcar Generic Championship
F1 2006
BTCC Generic Championship
BAT Seven Challenge
F1 2002
Rules will be along the lines of: least points in the season wins (read the tables bottom to top rather than top to bottom - nice and easy...)
other rules I'm still thinking of....all sessions must be competed.
retirements on or off though??
I intend to put all the new adjustable settings to maximum mayhem as well ;)
i'm going to post this on the AtlasF1 Clan notice board in game as well and invite a few of my non-AtlasF1 BB Batracer chums....

I suspect that if you take all the adjustable settings to the extremes, we might end up with all DNF races... It could be fun to try for a couple of races though, and then maybe go back to some more "normal" levels?
As for series choice the Aussie V8s takes too long, but otherwise imo it woulda had a good points system for a maximum failure series, with points for everyone finishing. I don't know of the points systems for sevens, BTCC or the MR2 series (haven't played any of those), maybe one of them has a similar system?
Breadmaster
Jan 2 2008, 23:45
You can't all DNF, when you get to three left in the race a Red Flag is thrown........
...and a fantastic achievement it is too.
Almost impossible to do before the new settings but I've seen a good few since then in a mayhem series (including the one i won today to my shame - sometimes it's difficult to lose even having made 4 stops and having no wings left and running on 3 wheels!)
