Gamespot review:
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/driving/touris...phy/review.html

The same company that did the Gran Turismo series is releasing this game.

I'm personnally really not convinced about this one. :\

Why?
A couple of reasons(in no particular order) :
1- No online
2- Only 4 racers in the same race!!!(That's my #1 beef!) mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif
3- Is there any damage to the bike when needed?(As the GT series never did...)
4- The tracks are all the same as in the GT series! C'mon Polyphony! You couldn't take some time to create a few more or delete a few that we're fed up of playing(Deep Forest, Grand Valley, Tokyo R246 or Stage Route 5) and insert some new ones. If not, have at least the decendy to sell me this game at a really low price. Don't try to fool me to believe in thinking developping this game has cost you a hell of a lot... rolleyes.gif

Then again, I could be wrong but so far...

2--My problem with the GT series as well, never more than 5 opponents, although I understand GT5 for PS3 will be able to handle 20+ cars up.gif
4--no Isle of Man? No Assen? Sheesh. Reading everything this sounds more like a beta-test GT4 mod than anything else. Second the disappointment--not that I can afford the game at present rolleyes.gif

Hayabusa 0-100 in around 10 seconds rolleyes.gif do some research if you're gona make a bike game.

FWIW, this game is pretty fun to play, which to me at least, is more important than having bits fly from the vehicles.

It's been my understanding that PD is testing the waters with Tourist Trophy, to see if a bike sim would sell well enough to make a proper game feasible. Bike choice is slim compared to GT, and there are fewer races (but way more challenges). All the tracks are from the GT series (except Valencia), which is fine by me cause the tracks are fun enough and it makes it far easier to figure out how to run a bike without crashing if you know where the turns go!

True enough, the AI isn't all that great, but great (or even serviceable) AI has never been a GT strong suit. Hopefully this will change with the PS3. Anyway it's fun.

The biggest component of victory is the bike you choose to ride. If you're on an underpowered bike, you won't stand much of a chance of catching up, no matter how good you are. But, if you have a fast bike, you can easily compensate for sloppy cornering with quick acceleration and a high top speed.

I find the same with pretty much all of the GT series. He also makes a good point with the AI. Rarely do you see NPC's run off the track (unless their tyres are shot at the end of a long sprint race), and unless your car is as good as the competition, winning is nigh on impossible. Just venting about GT4. And the fact that even after 4 GT's, I still can't drive smoothly!

We're surely due for a decent moto sim game - Moto racer 1 and 2 were fun, but the last proper bike sim I recall playing was "Super Hang On" on sega megadrive! AWESOME!

After getting my own copy and giving it a good ride, I found myself surprised. Actually more surprised than I expected! smoking.gif

I found the AI to be decent drivers in Tourist Trophy. up.gif Surprised again since the GT4 drivers(or any previous GT's) are so bad! mad.gif mad.gif down.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I'm not completely deep into the racing series yet but I do find the first few ones a little too easy... I hope they get a little harder as I get through them.

The challenges are a fun way to obtain the bikes! A+ up.gif up.gif

As I have raced only those small classes in the official races series, I don't mind having only 4 racers in them since I have found that holding and riding the bike along with the fact that controlling the body is a nice feature(which I have not fully understood yet(especially all the different parameters)).
I only wonder if I'll be having the same feeling when I enter the series that include real racing bikes! confused.gif

In that sense, so far, I come back on my initial comment and I am not missing the online aspect(yet).

One thing I officially hate is the 10 seconds penalty you get when you touch(ever so slightly) the grass or the rails. I think in a time attack it would be OK but in an official race, it sucks! I never intend to cut corners or ram the wall but if you happen to lose it a little and try to make it stick and happen to touch. TOO BAD 4 U!!! mad.gif mad.gif

I hate the time penalties as well-in both TT and in GT4. I don't see the point in them.....I mean, you touch the grass a bit, so you lose 10 seconds or whatever? Yet, the AI opponents do not? I've seen this happen in the challenges-you take a turn wide and you fail, but the guy you're chasing runs wide, wobbles, and still manages to stay ahead.....it doesn't make sense!

I presume you are running in the professonal mode-the penalties drove me nuts so I dropped back down to the easier one so I could actually have fun.

Arrows-the race bike series aren't that hard (even on Pro) but you should make sure you don't hobble yourself by using a much slower or smaller bike. Since the starts are rolling, the first place rider gets about a five second lead.
