Thanks Roly, I thought the pits looked a bit quiet... smile.gif

I had the same problem until I did a 'force refresh' of my browser (IE6).

No. 23 in the programme for the August 1973 Brands Hatch round was Pierre Soukry, entered to drive a..... Connew. Marked in my programme as a reserve. No car with that number in the March (Race of Champions) or April rounds - were there any other F5000 rounds at Brands that year?

#23 could be Frank Gardner's Lola at the 1971 Victory Race (24/10/71)?

I think the second photo (and your Ferrari pic in the 'track' thread) is from the 1968 Gold Cup at Oulton.
Stewart in the MS10 #5, Derek Bell in #17 Ferrari.

Quite emotional since, outside of the casual "ambiance" that it depicts, this is probably one of the very last photos of Seppi....

Thanks for the link Philippe
I did post it to this thread (05-Nov-04 post#33), but a smaller version. It's still there ;)

I found this image on Sutton, which confirms change of number (I think)...

The Chaparral he designed was a 1980 chassis. So, if he were a freelance in 1979, he could have been working for Rebaque too I suppose. And Zolder would have been an early-season race; May, perhaps?

I haven't got the current copy of MotorSport in front of me, but IIRC JB mentions that he was briefly working with Rebaque after Chaparral, before he went on to the restructured McLaren team.

Just wondering, but is the Eppie Weitzes Brabham the only time a sponsor (Labatts 50, a Canadian beer) has decided on the number of an entrant?
Jaxs
yer, I've got some from Le Mans, F1, stewart, revson, fittipaldi, chapman ...et al....... in cars, at start, at corners.....

I saw a "pit lane test" of that trolley somewhere just recently.

Now where was it?
Barry Boor
At various times, many of us have posted images on threads. It occurred to me last night, as I came across an old photo album of mine that it might be a nice idea to have an on-going thread onto which those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to scan and post images, could do so, for the dilectation of others.

Do I have any support on this one.....?

Oh yes! I am thinking of racing oriented images, by the way!
Barry Boor
Alright, seeing that I suggested it in the first place, I'll set the ball rolling with a few. I should add, in my own defence, that these were taken a LONG time ago, with a camera that was given away free with Corn Flakes! smile.gif

All these pictures were taken at Brands Hatch

I presume that is Ron Tauranac behind Ickx. Clearly this must be 1967 - Jacky's one year with Jack's team.

From a BOAC 500, or whatever that was called. 1970, I think.

Taken during practice for the 1970 British Grand Prix.

A particular satisfying photo for me because 1. I got into the pit lane; 2. It was the very first appearance of an F1 Surtees (TS.7) and 3. All 3 designers are in the picture - one in the car and two at the back right - Shahab Ahmed (white jumper) and Peter Connew (orange jumper).

I hope everyone accepts that the motives for posting these pictures are not self-congratulatory, but rather are a genuine wish to share them with other interested parties.
Barry Boor
Blimey, Twinny, talk about raising from the dead!!!!

I will have to edit the links to my pictures so that they re-appear. I have a few more I can add later, I suppose.
Barry Boor
A brief explanation - my images were posted via my old website address. Now that I am on broadband, the address has changed. It just took me a while to change the links.

Well, it was 2001!!!
Barry Boor
No pictures of a little red and yellow car at that meeting, Twinny?
Barry Boor
Apologies, but then, I have trouble remembering what happened yesterday, let alone a while back.... confused.gif
Barry Boor
A couple more from my large but generally poor quality box...

This above has probably been shown on the Amon thread but a long while ago.

This one is around somewhere too, but it's a personal favourite of mine.
Barry Boor
Rifling through my box of odds and stuff, I found a few more that may be of some interest to a few people...

Here is Graham Hill saying 'Goodbye', at Silverstone in 1975. The last time I, amongst many, ever saw him.

This is his son, pictured in the Silverstone paddock at an International Trophy F.3000 meeting.

After playing about with this 32 year-old photo, which was spoiled by light getting onto the film, this is the first time it has EVER been viewable. The young man in the March is pictured in the Nurburgring paddock in 1972.

Barry Boor
Here are a few more old ones of mine....

Barry Boor
I must confess, I wasn't too impressed with the newly designed front wings. Can't see them providing a lot of downforce!
Barry Boor
I don't wish to be even more boring than usual but.... Staff, did you take any pictures of the Connew while you were in Austria in 1972?
Barry Boor
1971 Racing Car Show at Ally Pally, sir?

It certainly is, sir!

Ah, Staff, if only...... but then, I doubt you will see many race mechanics toting cameras around the paddock, even today. Much too busy - far too many things to do.
Barry Boor
Time to add a few of mine....

These are all from 1970 or 1971 - some at Brands, some at Salivastone.

Sorry, I forgot, the Amon pic is from Austria 1972.
Barry Boor
Yes, you are all quite right. I forgot that some of the pictures went back into the 1960's.

Chris looks tired - he had just finished the Austrian Grand Prix and it was HOT - even outside the cars.
Barry Boor
A few assorted Brands Hatch paddock shots from my old collection....

sorry about the angle on the Hesketh pic. It's supposed to be viewed at 45 degrees! BTW, I have always thought that the smiling little chap in the white shirt was the famous mechanic 'ball of string'. Is it?

Barry Boor
It's a TUI.
Barry Boor
I thought the pale yellow Brabham Climax might provoke the odd question.

It is quite an unusual one. IIRC the car was owned by a George Pitt and was to have been driven in the 1969 Race of Champions by none other than Roy Pike.

Darren's excellent site reminds me that the car seemed to achieve no practice time at all, and didn't start the race.

I guess the removed bodywork gives us a clue that the problem was mechanical...
Barry Boor
I think you will find that is the oil tank. Oil tanks hanging out the back of cars were quite popular in the early 1970s! blush.gif
Barry Boor
....or did you mean the little white catch tank? It's job was to collect the oil that would otherwise have dribbled (or in some cases gushed) out of the main tank breather.
Barry Boor
dwall - that Vanwall, where when?

Dan, the Tui was taken in 1970, I think, and it was definitely an F.3 car. I never saw any F.2 racing at Brands during that period.

As for the Brabham, I assume a 2.7 litre Climax 4 cylinder engine (maybe 2.5) and I have tried to find the pedigree of this one but without success as a 23B is not listed as an F.1 car at all.

Is this worth a thread of its own?
Barry Boor
If it's Goodwood, it's 1957 - Tony Brooks' car.
Barry Boor
So he did! I didn't realise they ran the Vanwall in that configuration at all in 1960.

Apologies, dwall.

David - 1959, don't think so.
Barry Boor
Sorting through my photo drawer, I thought I'd post a few from Oulton Park Historic meetings, to give those not fortunate enough to be able to attend such events, a taste of the delights to be seen there...

I am interested to know in what class of racing this last car, a PIERCE M.G, would have raced, and when.
Barry Boor
Well, the March is an F.2 car (702) but as to whether Ronnie actually drove this car or not, better people than I would have to decide.
Barry Boor
It is a 1962 Formula Junior car called a LIGHTNING.

The current owner, at the time of that meeting, was Bob Diggory. I assumed that he would be related to Jim Diggory who built cars called Gwyniads, in Wales. I guess this may also have been one of his creations.

Then again.... frown.gif

Over to you, anoraks....
