Thanks for sharing!! I particularly like the pics of Patrick Depailler. Patrick was always one of the “highest fliers” at the Ring in the mid-seventies and this is also well illustrated in your photo. I have some video footage of Depailler at the Ring in 1974, where he is absolutely murdering the Cosworth in the back of the Tyrrell.

It would make my day if you could alter your spelling of the island where I grew up - it's GUERNSEY.
Many thanks in advance. smile.gif smile.gif

Lovely job, thanks - and your photos are excellent, too. They made me feel quite nostalgic for my younger days in Guernsey.

FWIW, Noel Le Tissier competed in our club's RAC Sprint Championship rounds at Colerne in both 1979 and 1981, and the car is listed as a Chevron B30 for both of these events. Cue Steve W . . .

Which ones, Gerard? As far as I can see they fit perfectly with the Silver City Trophy on 1 August 1960 which was, as Twinny said, the first major event on the lengthened Brands circuit. The red cars are Ferraris no 40 (Phil Hill) and 42 (Richie Ginther).

Sorry! - I know how frustrating it is when that happens.

Bravo, Narcís. I wish I was half as competent in two languages as you obviously are in (at least) three.

Funny, when I lived in Phoenix, I worked with a guy who was a UPI photographer "on the side."

He had attended the races in his "photographer" mode, and had quite a collection of 35mm slides.

I have the same (or similar) image, from a different angle, that this guy took. He was very kind and let me reproduce the image into an 8x10 at no charge. I have to see if I can find the darn thing......

Cheers-

Absolutely sensational stuff.....besides the documentary value, there is also some obvious photographer's talent in those shots ! We now all understand why MotorSport turned "red".....probably the shame of having missed the chance to use those pictures !

Me fully agrees. Why they ever returned them unused... a mystery. Thank you Bill!

Great pics Alan!! Dodo of course the younger brother of Clay. Did we miss him in a family thread?

He is sporting the Regazzoni Jeans make. I know Mrs Clay Rega sold them in her shop in Lugano. But were they more widely available?

Many supersaloons at the time were built using single seater or sportscar tubs and suspension etc, such as Mick Hill's 5000cc Beetle which used the entire rear end and front suspension from an F5000 Trojan T101. The DFVW is no more. The De Cadanet has been restored so the chassis has gone full circle.

Interesting... I wonder which car is remembered most by British race goers: DFVW or de Cadenet?

From the Belso website.....

Belso cereals, founded by Danish born Tom Belso in 1977, Toms background however is not in breakfast cereals but in motor-racing.

Tom started his career racing touring cars in the 60’s, he then progressed to Formula 2 where he raced for the Viking Brabham team and then to Formula 5000 where he raced for Lola. Tom is proud to say that he was the first Dane ever to enter Formula One and qualified for a few races before retiring from racing in 1977. He still keeps his racing helmet in a safe place and has recently appeared as a guest at the Goodward revival and other such races in Denmark.

As a racing driver, Tom had to watch what he ate and along with fellow drivers he needed to eat sensibly, so once he retired from racing he took a logical step and moved to produce healthy cereals that had provided him with the fuel he needed to race.

In 1982 Tom started the cereals plant in Cambridgeshire and commenced trading in the Export market with contacts he had in Scandinavian countries

Taken in the paddock at a round of the 1965 Drag Festival. Not exactly a dragster. I should know what it is, but........?

The "M" in March, I think. Don't know who he's talking to though...

Scuderia, those photos are really special. More please.

Did I capture a young Max walking beside the Tyrrell in 1973?

I definately did get him standing beside the March of Ronnie during a fog-shrouded practice for the 1972 USGP.

He also races an '84 Ralt RT4 in SVRA events...

At the Zippo Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen last September 8 - 11, " "Formula Atlantic veteran, Bobby Brown jumped into the lead from the start in his "new" '84 Ralt RT4, with Howard Katz, '73 March 732, and Larry Neviaser, '74 Lola T332 in pursuit. By the end of the first lap it was Katz out in front, but two laps later Brown had taken back the lead and was slowly drawing away from the pack. Meanwhile Neviaser was back in seventh, the Lola looking very dusty, and Divina Galica, '78 March 782, had taken over third; that was the order to the flag." -- Bob Harrington for SVRA."

The Ralt is very quick and well turned out racer too. I don't think he ever stopped racing. He runs about 10-15 Historic races a year.

I'm really happy that he has continued with his racing; I worked at his Chevy dealership in Hicksville, NY (Robert Chevrolet) for the summer of '71 when he was racing Dan Gurney's old McLeagle in the CanAm series. He had bought an M8F (if I remember correctly) that same year.
My brother worked at that same dealership for quite a number of years.
