I think I'll become a Neil Hodgson fan!!!!!!!!!
Keir
...............but would it go on for over 3700 posts?? smoking.gif
Keir
I always liked the look of that Ensign N174, how Amon ever got that car up to speed is a true barometer of his talent.

A 1974 chassis, two year old endurance engines in dire need of rebuilding and Amon at the wheel.

............and the car ran well at both South Africa and Long Beach!!!
Keir
Phil Kerr in the MARCH shot??
Keir
David,
Nice one, thanks!!
Keir
What, me worry!! lol.gif

Keep those great pics coming!!
Keir
As the MARCH is Amon's car, the engine is more than likely "Blown!!"
Keir
What spec is the Lotus ?? I haven't seen it in a very long time !!
Keir
That car just did not look good with the white roundel !!
Keir
I used to keep my driver's suit on well after my race was over !!
Keir
Murph27,
You're my hero !!
Keir
I always liked that Ligier, it "DID " have quite the different look !!
Keir
Great drivers shot !!
Keir
Can anyone name all the drivers in the Dunlop pic ???
Keir
Well done on the drivers list !!
Keir
Sooooo off topic, but Wetson's was a favorite stomping ground when I was a teenager. We would ride our bikes over the Bayonne bridge to Wetson's and have some burgers and fries and then our working class mothers would yell at us for spending our money unwisely !! How times have changed !!
Keir
Very true in an age when mothers were still mothers !!
MCH
I'll second that biggrin.gif

This thread just gets better. Many thanks to all who have contributed so many great images.

The following were shot at Santa Barbara by my step-dad, TC Ury with an old Speed Graphic and AGFA 4x5 film. A couple of them are included in the book "American Sports Car Racing in the 1950s"

Apologies to anyone out there on dialup...

Driver's meeting

Ken Miles' MG Special

Another shot of the Miles Special

I don't know why, but this is my favorite shot from his collection. I believe it's the shot that made me want to photograph racing cars myself.

The photo of the 500 Mondial is from 1954. Sorry, don't know about the chap on the left.

It's Giulio Borsari in the fuel-injected Ferrari 156/63 at Silverstone in 1963. Taken from the original 2 and a quarter inch square negative, remember those??

But not the Grand Prix?

Or are there other subtle things that we plebs don't spot?

I don't think it had the tacked-on deflector on the top of the windscreen in June.
Roger Clark
Rob's picture confirms another difference. In the Grand Prix the car had a lower engine cover. Not that it is visible in Gary's picture.
Roger Clark
In the 1960 silver City Trophy, Hill raced number 42 and Ginther number 40. In ScuderiaSSS's picture this can be clearly seen by the grid positions and the colour of the drivers' helmets. Sheldon and derived sources did not pick up the change of numbers. See also these threads:

The shot of the drivers in front of the Dunlop van was certainly taken at the 1964 British Grand Prix. There is an almost identical shot in the Autosport race report. It must have been taken at vitually the same instant; most of the drivers' expressions are identical, Phill Hill is shielding his mouth (is he whispering a secret to Dan Gurney?), the only difference is that Bob Anderson is looking straight ahead, not to his right. I would guess that the Autosport picture was taken by one of the two people you can see in the foreground of ScuderiaSSS' one.
Roger Clark
Some more thoughts on ScuderiaSSS' pictures. All appear to be from the august Bank holiday Guards Trophy meeting at Brands Hatch in various years.

The first is Lucien Bianchi's Maserati 151 in 1962. The second is obviously Roger Penske in 1963.

The picture of Graham Hill in Ferrari number 10 is from 1964.

The pictures of the Breadvan Ferrari are from the 1962.

The pictures of the GTOs are from 1962. As stated, Surtees is number 74, Parkes' winner is 73. I am not sure about number 72, but it must be Piper or Davis.

I think that the Ferrari number 6 is Bandini's 330LM in 1963

Barry

Count me in if the thread takes off. Most of my personal F1 pics are already on FORIX but I am sure I could find some paddock shots that have not been seen.

Maybe even shots from other catagories? I would LOVE to see some personal photos from the 1976 & 77 Shellsport series or the 1978-79 AFX or F5000!

OK Barry, I promised to join this thread so here are a few from the early 1970's

1972 British GP at Brands Hatch and Niki Lauda (driving for March) checks his mount for 1973!

Guy Ewwards brakes his F5000 Lola T330 for Druids during practice for the 1973 Race of Champions at Brands.

1974 Race of Champions at Brands and Jacky Ickx brings his Lotus 72E back into the paddock after practice.

Just after the Ickx picture and Denny Hulme returns in the McLaren M23 (without his helmet).

I'll see how many other members contribute to this thread and maybe post a few more in December?

I am not a professional photographer, so copyrighting my photos does not bother me. If anyone thinks that my pics are good enough to use elsewhere I am delighted, and more that happy for that to happen.

One funny occurrance regarding copyright etc.. check these links..

These are two of my photos.. used on the official BRDC website without my knowledge lol.gif lol.gif .
I assume they 'lifted' them from FORIX?

I hate watermarks and other things spoiling images mad.gif mad.gif , but I do understand the reasons why some people use them rolleyes.gif .

I've looked at this thread on two different machines today, and in both Barry Boor's and Twinny's posts, all I get are those annoying little boxes with Xs in the middle. I can see all the other shots posted so far.
Barry Kalb

You could not see Barry Boor's pics because he'd removed 'em! Now they are back.. OK clap.gif
Twinny's pics confused.gif
