Lovely picture Rennmax.I know I have asked this before but anyone know John Robinsons situation today as I used to pass his house in Sth Croydon every day going to work, but l have not lived in Croydon for 30 years.
Was it the same John Robinson who worked as a journalist and road tester for one of the bike mags?
Also wrote a good book on 2 stroke tuning.
If he's one and the same I believe he passed away a few years ago.

Bit late I know but it's a pic worth sharing.
Always a good solid performer during the 60's. I think from memory he had a fairly short racing career.
Anyone care to educate me on Chris.

acc to the book, he retired in the 500 cc race with gearbox trouble after holding 3rd place behind SMBH and Ago... and if I had scrolled to the right, I would have seen SMBH on the MV as well ..

Nice shot.....The MV's are fours so must be Ago, Hailwood '65. 4 is Dan Shorey, 18 Paddy Driver, 25 John Cooper, 3 Derek Minter, 13 Lewis Young, 8 Rob Fitton, 7 Chris Conn, 17 Jack Findlay, to Jack's right rear seems to be Denis Ainsworth, with Billie Nelson last row extreme right.

I think Ive spied his name in Programmes from the late fifties and I dont think he went on much beyond 67?
An unusual Manx: little or no lagging around the primary chain area....and clutch cooling holes in the fairing.

Barry, I too think that's Graham - Who's going to adjudicate though? I can't recall the precise years, but there were a couple of periods of a year or more where Hartle was out of action. In fact, he retired around the mid sixties to run a spares type operation from the back of his Thames van.

Spot on Barry - 1953 Senior. I knew Les was an RAF pilot during WW2, but discovered today that Flight Leiutenant Graham was also awarded the DFC for bravery. What with that, first ever 500 world champ, AJS and MV works rider etc....lot to live up to for young Stuart?

Hi Renn, I know very little about his crash - was there a claim that the forks contributed in some way? Your'e right though, the forks do look odd. In fact, the bike itself looks like a bit of a monster

The MV got in a high speed wobble on the way to the bottom of Bray Hill and he finally crashed at the section called nowadays Ago's leap, that's what the records tell...the Count ordered extensive tests in Monza after that to find the reason for the instability of the chassis since the forks were under some suspicion, but there was no definite proof ...
