Knickerbrook, you are dead right. Banbury Dan who had just come 11th in 50 TT 1962 on his Kreidler.
He rode all classes and was the top Bultaco man in 125/250 classes.

Hi Rennmax
Yes Ricardo Quintanilla from Spain on his 125 Bultaco. He must have changed the colour of his helmet from your shot.
Nice one, now what about the sidecar shot.

Roy, no idea about the sidecar crew and, quite frankly, Ricardo Quintanilla is not one who rings a bell confused.gif , I did a bit of spying blush.gif , the only well known Spanish rider from that era is Ramon Torras for me

Well done Larry, another one nailed. Must put your archives to the test again.
Now who crashed at the Gooseneck in the 350 in 1962.
Do you have anything on R Karol (USA)125 Honda CB92 in 1961 or 1962. He was at the meeting but did not start.
Thanks,
Roy

Sorry Roy - I've no idea who that is in the Gooseneck bank, and I've no knowledge of R Karol!!

Yes Orrie Salter from Oz.
You could well be right on the passenger, I was going on the IoM Database which gives the passenger as B Tennent and that they were on a Norton and was DNF. So was it Norton or BMW? My eyes can't tell.
I am open to any corrections on my shots of 47 years ago, when I took them I could ID all of them, now only the front runners come to mind.

Apologies Roy - the original entry was Salter/Colley on BMW, but the aforementioned Jury Report/Results records what was obviously a change - Tennant/Norton for Colley/BMW.

The photo doesn't confirm the machine either way!

Good morning gents, just catching up. Well Larry we were both right and both wrong, Orries Salter ok but so he switched to a BM and B Tennent was passenger, though they were DNF
RRT2, good spot, this was the first year the ACU seeded the best riders for the race, hence they had the lowest number. This shows how switched on the ACU were, Hugh starting at 74. Nothing changes. This outfit completely ruined racing in the UK

DNF was supposedly caused by petrol siphoning through the breather, causing an early pit stop, and then the carburettor came loose. At the meeting before at Silverstone, the AJS had seized. This engine was not prepared by Bill Lacey, but by Francis Beart...

Thanks for that GD66, do you have any details of what happened to big Bob Brown, the ultimate profesional. in this same race. He does not appear in the IoM Database, but there is a LL Brown way down the field. Could be a typo for RL Brown.
Roy
GD66
He struck an oil patch and fell in the 350, and finished sixth in the 500 after a duel on the road with Bob Anderson, which featured in the Stanley Schofield TT LP of that year. Poor bugger had only six weeks left... frown.gif

Unless the old brain box is going, I think Orrie Salter returned to Britain around 1970 ? My memory is that he raced a 750 Honda oufit around that time at Bemsee meetings?
