Hi Graham there were a couple of Germans (Attenberger, Luthringshauser, Linnarz, Butscher) in the sixities who preferred left hand chairs, in fact Luthringshaiser and Butscher started with right hand outfits before switching afterwards...and I can't remember any Swiss with a right hand chair

I think a good reason for a left hand chair is that most circuits are run clockwise, instantly I can only remember the old Hockenheim circuit and Barcelona being run anticlockwise, hence a lefty was a certain advantage

Good morning gents, RRT2 is correct, with Pip Harris (in his last season ?) in the background. 3 German left hand outfits in one pic. I think Arsenius Butscher is passengered by the late Aga Neumann, who became Ralf Engelhardt's wife. Ralf has been quite active in the classic scene on one of Klaus Enders' outfits, I think he even competed in the pre TT Billown event in the last couple of years.

Top marks Larry, Robin on Tom Kirby's 7R at Ginger Hall. Could be prcatice or perhaps a trick of the light ? I think I read that he died about six or seven years ago. I know that afte winning the Junior he cantered around to fourth in the Senior and then retired from all racing.

Don't think so, Russ - would have been black number on yellow b/ground.

Hairrpin, Mallory about 65/66. The bloke mucking about on the far right could be Martin Watson on the Aldridge Norton; 17 looks not unlike Roger Hunter on his own Manx after he left Tom Kirby.....The other blokes:- dunno.

Ralf has been running the ex-Enders outfit since before I first rode in the Pre-TT at Billown in 1999 on Hans-Otto Butenuth's 500 short stroke special and, as far as I know, we'll both be out there next year, and the year after etc etc.
A few years ago, he broke the crankshaft in the ohc Rennsport engine he was using, and got a new one made.
