There was Graham Dixon who, If I recall correctly, later rode a Macchi for Squadron Leader Stafford....Ray Oldam will know this as I think he did too. Probably not him though as he was racing in lower level meetings with the likes of me. Think he was C. G. though..... I suppose he could have retired and come back? Don't think I recall Burton.

Russell,
Hi. Your Mallory shot, 15 may be Tony Smith again, but not sure, then Percy Tait, John Cooper, Pat Mahoney (partly obscured), don't know the next two but the last in the photo could be Mick (?) Andrew on the Gus Khun Norton?
Graham Dixon used to race Aermacchis for Stafford up to about 72, also a TD1C in 1968, a Triumph Trident 3 'Slippery Sam' lookalike in Production races including the Island, and also partnered Mike Trimby in some endurance events on a TZ350. He still rides now, and has a Triumph Daytona. He also bought the Trident off Stafford back in the seventies but I'm not sure he still has it now. A really nice guy, he helped me out with some work on my own Aermacchi a few times too.
I believe Graham was the first rider Stafford supported. They both went to an Aermacchi test day, in 68 I think it would have been when Stafford was planning to get back into racing himself. Stafford found the Aermacchi a bit of a handful, and Graham flung one of the others up the road after some spirited riding. They had both been talking earlier, and when he saw Graham had to pay up for the damage, Stafford stepped in and bought the bike, telling Syd Lawton that Graham was going to ride it for him. I'm not sure he had even asked Graham first!! That's how Stafford got into sponsorship!
I last saw Graham a couple of years ago - you have reminded me I should get back in touch!
All the best

Fine footage indeed. Love SMBH's nonchalance after finishing 5 th on the Ducati, which seemingly wasn't half as good as the bike of 78.

Yet another interesting aspect of many of Keith's wonderful photographs is that full blown factory riders like Amm, Kavanagh and doubtless others, were travelling companions and presumambly great mates with blokes who were scratching around trying to earn a few bob, and then that factory ride........... Plus, there'll be a few more of the "travelling companions" along shortly . . . . . . . . . . . .
As to being born a few years too late, I reckon I was fifteen years late - I did however have 11 seasons from '76 to'86 on 'Macchis & TZs when it was still fun.
Nowadays, the only enjoyment left is in the Classics & Sidecars, so I'll carry on with the BeeM (solo, that is!!)
