Well its getting to the time of year when the boss asks...
"When would you like your SUMMER holidays ???" cool.gif
...and Im thinking... "Can I have Christmas first ????" drunk.gif

So Im looking for ideas on where to go....I've done Silverstone (2003), Spa(2004/05) and Magny-Cours (2006)... Travelling from Scotland...Anybody any suggestions ??

Where have you been ? What's it like ?

Cos Spa will take a hell of a lot to beat ???

Zingman,

Take a long weekend in May leaving on Wednesday. Go to the free practice at Monaco on the Thursday - it is very reasonable for a grandstand 60/70 euro. Then buy a Sector Rocher for Saturday and Sunday. Better still wait until 2008 and go the historics the weekend before too.

You can stay anywhere along the coast at a reasonable cost once you are not right in Monaco/Menton (you can also stay in Italy near San Remo). Transport is very good too. Check out www.acm.mc as the tickets are now on sale. For places to stay check out www.sncf.fr to see where the trains stop and their frequency.

I have been to Francorchamps - Monaco is as good just different.

pkenny,
Very very tempting...Took my son there last year on a day trip from Nice...Hired a motorbike and drove the circuit ... He thought I was mad ( he was on the back !).
I've always thought of Monaco as a "suit" Grand Prix...(you know Corperate entertainment... and wouldn't know one end of a car from the other) but your view of it puts a complete new slant on it...thanks... cool.gif

Check out www.acm.mc as the tickets are now on sale.

I just checked it: They took away the ability to pick specific grandstand seats! That had been one of the things I liked about going to Monaco

if your wanting somewhere warmish and cant afford monaco the barcelona is a good bet, you can fly to girona pretty cheaply from prestwick with ryanair and get a cheap hotel/hostel for the week
they do a track day on the thurs where i think you can get a pitlane walkabout etc
racewise it was pretty boring but had a great atmosphere around the circuit and the city itself
or if you dont want to stay in barcelona you can get a holiday package to stya on the coast say lloret or tossa del mar and bus/train it in

Nurburgring is only another 30 minutes father down the road from Spa (well the way by brother in law drives it was lol.gif ) A very different atmosphere to Spa though you can't roam as freely as in belgium, it's a great party. When we were there, a bunch of Dutch fans with four big RV's and a massive Tarp had corralled to make a night club in the trees. good light show good music and good guys. It's a 24 hour party place so make sure you have ear plugs to sleep lol.gif
