Fantastic MM diorama in 1/43rd scale

That is actually very impressive. I have often thought about doing some simple diorama's, but nothing near that level of workmanship. I'm impressed.

Just a detail (I'm over-meticulous...)
The race is the 1956 Mille Miglia, in the penultimate picture there is a blue Fiat 500 (with a red dressed girl standing), near the Eugenio Castellotti's Ferrari 290MM #548 and the parked Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider #425 (Consalvo Sanesi?).
It's impossible, because the first "Fiat Nuova 500" was sold only on July 1957.

(perhaps that girl was Engineer Giacosa's daughter, testing the prototype... tongue.gif )

The same person has also done some fantasic LeMans dioramas. Check out the website

I especially like the 1930s Le Mans ones....

and yes, car #425 is the Sanesi giulietta lightweight veloce monposto spider...and you are correct about the FIAT 500

They always have a fascinating stand at Retromobile. Their skill takes one's breath away.

I'm not sayiing their prices aren't fair, but a diorama like the MM one would be over $10,000, and very few people can afford to spend that for a model...

If I put a coupla 1,000 hours into a piece like that I'd expect a hefty price too. It just like Barrett-Jackson, RM Auctions or racing Historic Racing cars...all cost lots of money, that's the cruel reality of modern life confused.gif .
scags
you could build one yourself, if you had a spare year or so...

It's a great piece of work, but I think its a bit of a shame that a work of that size which obviously took a lot of time and $$$ to put together only a handful of cars.

For a diorama of that size I would have preferred to see them incorporate a lot more cars to show the diversity of the entrants in the Mille.

Molto Simpatico wave.gif ...the blonde in the 5th pic seems to be up to no good rolleyes.gif

Click on "creations" at the left. The 1937 Le Mans one with the Bugatti tank is fantastic too!!

Sadly I do not find these dioramas inspiring, in fact they have the opposite effect on me. I now feel that I should quietly place my models back in their boxes and put them in the shed, I feel so inadequate!
