Ahh... that's why the fence is so close!
Perhaps John Medley can add more about the Porsche, and also that wire wheel to the right under what appears to be a DB3S guard. And is that a D-type in the foreground?

Not sure what the wire wheel is attached to but the program does list two "Austin Martin"s [sic]!!!!
I think that the car in the foreground is probably Derek's Lotus XV.

The car in the foreground is clearly the lovely Lotus XV..while the drum braked car on the right is the eternally disappointing production DB3S of Sulman.
I remember reading where David Mckay said a well driven Healey was nearly as quick..
excellent pics Kaydee..your motorcycle pics of Ken Kavanagh are with MCA ..as we speak

Would anyone like to hazard a guess re the rednosed blue car between the two red MG Specials?
I have one idea -- but I have no recollection of those colours on the car I'm thinking of
Natty head gear in the #12 JWF pic - umbrella and hat combined.

Patrick...a vertical brace on the trailer is making the 63 into the 68....probably no change in number.

Patrick,
Sorry, my typo. The spelling on the trailer is correct - even the spelling in the Program is correct.
(I've edited my original post so that the spelling doesn't get perpetuated!)

Sorry..... was in the Lotus 20 position and could not see the vertical brace ... and thanks kaydee for the great photos and the spelling correction - looked in a few NZ lists and they have the two cars that raced in the deep south [ Crosbie and Cottle ] as Berkley.

It's going to be a sad day when you guys run out of these great photo's,and whats great is the memories that it must bring back and information you share.
I dread the thought of all the great history being lost!
I heard a story of a guy cleaning up his late fathers house and throwing out
hundreds of slides........
Would anyone have a starters list & full results for round 5 of the Aust Formula 2 championship of 1974 held at Symmons Plains in Tassie?

Yes 275 GTB-4,
That's why I decided to start building the history of Collingrove hillclimb.
The only problem is I keep finding more great storys and photos of the characters and then
feel I should do a quick run down on them!
My project just gets bigger!!!!

More photos from the Australian Touring Car Championship meeting at Orange in Feb 1960 -
The caption on this slide says "Ron Hodgson's 3.8 Jag approaching Speets Bend"
Brian Foley in Austin A40 leading J Malcolm in Austin Lancer
Hi Kayedee,
Is this the Derek Jolly car at that meeting?
I think we could have bumped into each other!
The start of a sports car race - looks like the Jag C-type that you took in the pits.
Added this one because it appeals to me!
I lived in Orange in those days - now (and since 1968) in your home town. Small world.
Please keep posting the brilliant pictures.

That would be in

And 'J Malcolm' was John Malcolm who had a workshop in Newtown for many years.

Rod Carveth visited Australia in 1959..so that pic is 1959.....it is assumed Derek Jolly was in UK "negotiating" with Coin Chapman for most of 1959.

The Original Mk1 is hard to find photos.

Yes P4, but one in background too small for A40, Suicide doors, is it continental? like Fiat, Renault or Citroen?
In foreground, large centre piece to spokes, suggest 1930's period, distance from radiator to front of gearbox very tiny, 2 cylinder space? Jowett? or Bradford? Obviously special.

Is interesting how Patto ruled with a single wishbone rear suspension T51, ala Kaydee pic
With a Whiteford tuned 2 Litre, Patto hounded JB's World Championship Winning T51 ..at the 'Island March1960 and later at Bathurst that same year.......Patto set Residential Lap Records....we must re-apparaise the Sydney-Centirc mythology about our fastest driver..
