Best,

Tony

I see this thread come back to page 1 again.

I have put together some of these JL kits and have a few more to put together. When I get a chance I will take a some pics and post them .

Buildy, I do like the way the MM Kurtis Indy Roadster has been converted into a midget. I have one of these sitting around. Very tempting to give it a facelift.

Cheers,

Here are the pics of the JL Innovation produced cars I have put together.

wave.gif Anyone who can do me a Bizzarini A3C or a Maserati 1964- smoking.gif T151/3 ??
Bjorn Kjer
frown.gif A very sad information : Tony (post 148) new , and one of the few to this thread , recently lost his only son. My full condolences to Tony and his family !
fines
That's very sad! Tony, if you read this, my thoughts are with you and your family! Always remember, sunshine will eventually follow the rain... Or, as someone once put it: Don't cry because it's over, smile because it was there in the first place!

Shell Germany has a campaign going on with free/cheap keyholders. D'yor happen to know the size/scale :

F1 2007 , Supersport , P3 , GTO and F1 1961 seems to be the collection ! Shell does not seem to bother an e-mail !
Bjorn Kjer
wave.gif I have some 1/87 racers to go , Ferrari GTO (UDT version) - Ferrari and other F1 90's -Group C Mercedes and Porsche 956 - Indycars 90' or so etc. Any interest , contact me please. I am looking for old racers (30') or open car semi-trailer transporters !
Bjorn Kjer
wave.gif One year ! clap.gif Oh ! Celebrations for a very small number of 1/87 people (and ALL the others too)

on this thread ! Allthough I never expected an overwhelming response , I feel I have found some good infos , and seen some very nice pictures too !

Some really good things are happening in this small scale , which I never considered to be for poor people , but which also in the past AND coming year shows its not ! Some very interesting models have come , and more greats are under way !

Quality and detail is closing rapidly to other scales , allways dpending on the producers of course as in any scale !

Prices also rise with quality , but still I think at a decent rate !

I hope for a continuence here and wish you all the best , my thoughts especially being with Tony for his loss !

I have tried to find , yet with no succes , someone who could build or "make" some spec. models in full or "raw" bodies : Maserati T151/3 (The 1964 monster) , Cobra Daytona Coupe and Bizzarini A3C !

Do any if you know or have the possibilities to do...........??? No pity here , but my hands or eyesight is , due to diabetes , not quite up to it any more ! smoking.gif Yep , no good , but I am still a smoker , only pleasure left ! Ha-ha!

This thread made me look around for a file I made in the early nineties. At that time I was quite busy making the first 1/43rd model kit catalogue of all Ferrari kits ever produced in that scale. Ranging from AMR to Western Models, from Provence Moulage to Tron. I was young and ambitious, and even thought of making a catalogue of ALL Ferrari models made. That never materialized. Still the kit catalogue was a success.
As I was preparing these projects, the 1/87 scale did not stay unnoticed. I also compiled a list of all Ferrari models in that scale, both build and kits.

Now I couldn’t find the file. Must even been made on 8” floppy disks (!). Yet a print-out was found this morning!
Here I would like to share with you what I had gathered at that point. Note that I did not have these models in my collection, and hadn’t seen all of them. Also some makes made very little runs, maybe reaching 10 pieces. In this list you might find makes to look for, also as they must have made non-Ferrari’s. This is what I have:

AHI did a Ferrari 375 GT;
Anguplas made the 500 F2 ref.44;
Aurora had a 625 and D50 (unconfirmed);
Brianza with a 250 GTO;

Herpa High Tech did the Testarossa and the F40. The TR was available in black and red. Some ‘limited edions came out in white and yellow from which the IAA fair is much sought after;
IS from Japan did the 512 BB;

wave.gif Hi Arjan , thanks for that , again showing how much has been in this scale , then adding news and models to come , its quite a lot ! smoking.gif
Bjorn Kjer
wave.gif Classic Grand Prix Cars ( Haynes) by Karl Ludvigsen , a fine book on the front-engined era up to 1960 , has besides a lot of good pictures and text , a list of specifications including WHEELBASE and TIRE SIZEs on over 100 racing cars from 1903 till today :
1903-1914 : 21 , 1919-1933 : 27 , 1934-1940 : 23 , 1946-1953 : 15 and 1954-1960 : 26 (I made the year intervals).

But whats more is the price , a cheeky sales price at £ 3,50 !!!! Get it while you can smoking.gif !!

wave.gif If you care to see a couple of my F1 models made around 1965 , have a look at :

I have a few interesting 1/87 models for example the tyrrel six-wheeler and even a sauber C9 from a manufacturer called Miber.

German manufacturer BS-design used to produce some interesting racing kits; zakspeed capri, tyrrell P34 and some other F1 cars. I wished there were some more racing cars in 1/87 but there aren't, that's why I have started sculpting the Ferrari 2003GA myself. It has come out quite well, I can't produce it in numbers of course, as mattel will be breathing down my neck roflmao.gif
Bjorn Kjer
wave.gif Do not agree with you ! In any scale availability can be better. In 1/87 there HAS been many , some you can at times find on eBay ! But if you look back on this thread you will see I tried to update for a period. But lack of interest made me stop ! However High Tech , Busch , Schuco , BUB , Le Mans Min. , Red-Line , Spark , Artapo and Brekina/Trumpeter are some of those that still do fine models ,the latest being a beaute of a Jag from Sparks to go with Porsches and Mercedes at le Mans (?) . But I do admit to wanting more , and you can not build any big startline-up if you want ready made models. Again I do have to say that if you really look there a small firms doing some usable ones too ! I have near complete line ups for Le Mans 61/62/63 or so . OK , then the single seaters are way behind , though available from the 30's!
I do also have some Herpa Ferrari and Sauber F1's , a couple of Miber MB C9's, some Monogram Indy cars and a couple of BS Porsche 956 plus some others of newer date if you are interested ! smoking.gif
kurtiejjj
You're right Bjorn, if you search well there are more than enough on ebay. Those new cars from BUB and Schuco are really nice, I'm tempted to buy that Porsche truck + some porsche 917s. But I have to make space before I do so roflmao.gif That's why I don't have space for a whole grid of le mans cars stoned.gif even though I'm tempted to do such a thing. When I was 13-14 I used to do quite a bit of modelling; landscapes, houses, cars and so on. Now though, it would make me even more nerdy than I am at the mo, so I won't blush.gif, however I'm tempted to scale build the Nürburgring's Karussel corner and put some of german's finest on it.

BTW. I also have a Renault 5 Turbo from Miber which together with the peugeot 205 rallye models, are probably their best work. Very good quality.

Suaber F1s in 1/87, I'm interested cool.gif

Bjorn, I've followed this thread with interest since it started. Those are some BEAUTIFUL models on here! I've never modeled in 1/87th, however, once upon a time I raced "HO" slot cars (A/FX, Tyco, etc.) and did some concours cars in what I guess would be considered 1/64th...so I dug around and found a coupla pix. I'll try and post these later once I get them scanned and hosted.......love those old Indy and Grand Prix front engine cars, BTW.

While "cleaning out" my model collection , I found the following with less interest for me. If anyone should be interested drop me a note for some kind of swap ?

8 black (Miber) F1 , 2 red ditto and 2 red (Herpa) F1 circa 90's
7 (Monogram) Indy cars 90's
2 Mercedes Sauber C9 proto(Miber)
2 Porsche 956(BS Design kit)

All of course in 1/87 scale!

Presently working on a HO scale layout here are some pic of two of the five petrol stations that will be depicted on it. Still very much a work in progress.

Bjorn Kjer
Nice layout fredeuce !

Remember Anguplas ? They later became Eko , rather simple models based on the old forms. But , very cheap and with some interesting models . They have a nice website :

www.ekomodel.com with pricelist and colour pictures. They still have a good range of interesting models , including D type Jaguar and and Alfa Guilietta ,and you can buy directly from them . Take a look !

Also decals : Virages make some fine at decent prices. You can buy directly , but remember they are French!
sarlvirages@wanadoo.fr
They do not make in 1/87 but many 1/43s and bigger ones is usable , depending on for what , of course.They did send me colour xerox copies and I have got my first order dispatched.
Bjorn Kjer
Hi all , not much for nearly a year ? Lets hope for some good 1/87 news from the soon to come Toy Fair ?
Bjorn Kjer
As this thread not all seems to be firing , I suggest eventual onlookers to go for "The talk about model cars" thread ?
Bjorn Kjer
Should someone find interest or renewed ditto here , dont hold back , please.
Bjorn Kjer
One of the most fantastic models (and price) finally came out this year , the Ferrari 642 RN2 Bartoletti transporter from Sparks. I got my examples , luckily , they were quickly sold out.

Wanting to have the Maserati version too , I am looking for a spray/painter to help me , so if any of you are willing , please come forward.

Bjorn Kjer

Hi , though not the greatest interest in this scale , I thought I'd still ask : Anyone out there able to do transfer on waterbasis or paper- selfadhesive (Apple?), or good ideas where to get ? Perhaps on orders ? I am also looking for small stripes of diff. colours (normal) as well as white rondels and numbers ?. Living in a small country like Denmark.............
Bjorn Kjer
I am looking for round white "circles" and numbers that fit for my race cars , any ideas ?

The best source for DIY until recently was an Alps or Citizen (same thing) 'dry' thermal printer using clear or white decal sheet. But not only have they been discontinued but they only really work with Win 95/98 PC's. So for stripes you can get some A4 clear decal paper and spray a sectioin the colour of your choice, then cut the width you need for a stripe. Or for white stripes and roundels get some white decal paper and cut stripes or punch roundels with either a paper hole punch or leather punches. You may need to experiment so as not to crack the decal film with a punch, perhaps by sandwiching the paper between card etc, but it should work. Additionally Microsport do some HO decals, some of which may be suitable

A friend of mine showed me his 1/87 SPARK Porsche 917/20 Pink Pig recently. It was a really amazing little model for what he paid for it on Ebay (he got it for a pretty low bid).

I've seen other SPARK 1/87 Porsche models at the Los Angeles Porsche Model and Literature show that past 2 years. All are very tempting.
Bjorn Kjer
Spark has just released some cars for 2010. Excellent for that size and price! Even an oldie Aston from 1959 amongst them.

About Porsche , I have some 917 's from Brekina incl. the David Piper set , plus some 962 kits if anyone should be interested..

Just about ½ year since the last post. By me ! Perhaps another poor guy has appeared on this forum , other than me ?

I just had a wee look at some of my smallest model, a Tomica P-34 Tyrell and the scale is 1/54!
How small is 1/87 ?

How small is 1/87 ?

1:87 is half the size (length) of 1:43. Think of a "Matchbox" model compared to a Dinky.

BTW 1:43 is model railway "0 Gauge" and 1:87 is "H0 Gauge"
Bjorn Kjer
Where the "H" stands for " half" , half O = HO.
Bjorn Kjer
The Ecurie Ecosse 1959 Commer transporter is to be released this month.
