Mr.Dodgins should ask the drivers about Switzerland sometimes, neither Cokoo clocks nor Milka chocolate are from Switzerland. Not that I'm insulted but it makes him look quite uninformed/stupid.

Dunno about cuckoo clocks but according to Wikipedia Milka "was created in 1901 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, by chocolatier Philippe Suchard as his first milk chocolate variety."

kNt I think it's you who is quite uninformed in this case.

First of all, as Mach4 already pointed out, Milka originates from Switzerland. And Switzerland is very famous for its cuckoo clocks, even if it didn't invent them.

Switzerland was described briefly as "in the land of chocolate and cuckoo clocks". Factually, there's nothing incorrect here. Whether a person is allowed to be lighthearted in his description of Switzerland or not, is a different matter. Personally, I find nothing insulting in that statement, especially when later he says: "A set of skis, bracing mountain air and bars of Milka chocolate sound good to me. I admit it, I'm jealous!"

What's incorrect or insulting about it, I've no idea really.

Of course the cuckoo clock mention is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the famous quote from 'The Third Man' http://www.whygo.com/07-11/the-third-man-o...ckoo-clock.html

Milka is not produced in Switzerland (you can see that it isn't branded swiss chocolate, it's the main-stream chocolate in germany - but I didn't actually know it originated in Switzerland), and cuckoo clocks are from southern germany (certainly they are also produced in switzerland but they were neither invented here nor do you find them anywhere outside of tourist stores).
It's just if I'd definde England as the Guiness-country.

"Main stream chocolate in Germany" - that says nothing about where it's produced either. Where does your mainstream Cola or your mainstream jeans come from?
FYI the factories that produce Milka chocolate are located in several countries, including indeed Germany, but also France, Poland, Austria, Slovakia and Romania. Hey, we're living in 2007.....
But it used to be Swiss, and the Alps are part of their image - though I doubt if all that milk comes from Alp cows wink.gif

Most probably they were first produced in Bohemia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuckoo_clock

But that's just not what the sentence relates to - just like the Milka reference it relates to the superficial mental image of Switzerland somebody might have, see my earlier post.
