Full Version: Anyone still playing with NR2003?

With the current avalanche of new mods (90 Cup, 90s Late Models, SNSC, CTS07, several COT options), this old game still manages to feel fresh after almost 5 years. And since I can't switch to rFactor yet (I'm on a PowerPC Mac), it is actually reassuring to see some renewed interest in the only cross-platform driving simulation worth a damn.

So, are there any other NR2003 aficionados here?
Arturo Pereira
Hi Pascal,

I am still playing NR2003. NASCAR Busch series cars and GTPs in a league. If you want more information, let me know smile.gif

Haven't played this in ages, but might have to dig it out. Good to hear that it's still being updated. Certainly far better than any of EA's efforts.

Here's one of my most recent rides, thanks to Chadley and all the good chaps at www.racingrafix.com. smile.gif

Nice Pascal

I've got NR2003 but haven't given it a go in quite some time.

Is there a 2008 Sprint carset out there?
Pascal
The Racing Groove has recently released a complete 2008 Sprint Cup carset for the SSnet COT mod.

For the best mods ever made for this game, I would warmly recommend paying a visit to the Sim Thunder chaps. Denis Rioux and his crew have been producing some great additions to an already awesome simulation, and even though it seems that they might retire after one of their mod had been illegally ported on another platform, the work they have already completed is top notch.

Another mod worth checking out is the Brazilian stock car. It is still in beta stage, but it is very impressive so far. And you get to choose between driving a Chevy Astra, a Mitsubishi Lancer, a Peugeot 307 or a Volkswagen Bora. Pretty nifty! The mod can be download from this page.

With the new CTS09 mod, I had to get myself another truck. And here it is, thanks to my friends at www.racingrafix.com :

Salut Pascal smile.gif.

Have you ever tried the AD67 mod for NR2003 ? Based on the TransAm physics, with 1967 sports & prototypes : Ferrari 330P4, Lola-Chevrolet T70/Mk3, Porsche 910 and Ford GT40. Good fun and decent looking cars for their age (simracing wise I mean ^^).

I like the mods on NR2003, the GN70 NASCAR cars are great too I think.
Pascal
Hi FEV wave.gif

I think I have tried pretty much every single mod that got out for NR2003. The AD67 one is no exception, though I have to admit a slight preference for the related 330 mod where the Ferrari P4 comes in two versions (open and closed) and which fixes the ride height issue usually associated with mods using the PTA physics.

The mod I am currently most excited about is the 1955 one that Denis Rioux and his crew are working on at www.simthunder.com. These guys have been involved in some of the best racing series for the NR2003 platform, and their work is truly top-notch.

Cool news about '55 ! Can't wait to see that. I'm already a great fan of Rioux & Co.'s GN70 and SNSC70 mods !

You're right about the ride height problem with the AD67 cars. IIRC an alternative is to launch it via the original 330.exe - should give you the 300 physics with the AD67 carset.

It's a shame no 1960 sports & prototypes mod is to be expected on any sim... Many 1970/80s stuff cooking on rfactor, but I have lost hope for the GPL mods... frown.gif A shame since properly modelled Group 4, 6 & 7 cars of the lates 1960s have to be a blast to simrace smile.gif !

For those of you still racing NR2003 and who have Rioux Mods' excellent IROC Z28 mod installed, I have painted a Nations Cup carset including 41 cars.

It is kindly hosted by my friends at Racin Grafix on this download page.

Nice work Pascal, that looks very cool, i will give it a try. Im still playing N2003 occasionally but only with COT, Trucks and Nationwide mods, using 2009 carsets. I try to do full races when i can but it is hard to find that amount of time!
Cobra
Nice car collection you have there Pascal! I'm currently running the GN70 mod and will check out the other mods that you've mentioned. Right now I'm trying to build some car models for GT Legends. I think I'm jumping right into the deep end with this.

I'm currently running the GN70 mod...

Which version?

If you haven't already, you definitely should check out the latest one from Rioux Mods, which is actually divided into two mods now: GN69ST (short tracks) and GN70SS (super speedways).

I'm running the one from Dakota Sims racing & The Pits. Are the Rioux Mods straight forward to install?
Pascal
Just drop the mod folder into your "series" folder, and you're good to go. smile.gif

Cool! Thanks Pascal.

For those with an interest in the GTP mod of NR2K3 we will be running them at HSO in 2010. Plan is to do the full 1991 IMSA GTP season, complete with the Sebring 12 Hours and Daytona 24 smile.gif . Every GTPer very much welcome ;) .
Pascal
I've painted another carset for Rioux' IROC Z28 mod, once again hosted by my good friends at RacinGrafix.

Enjoy! smile.gif
