I believe thats the WB frame but I can't recall the names. Brian Wooley (?) and another designed and built it. I have the details somewhere. I'll have to dig them out and post them.

Found it. Wooley and Bone. Details below.

The sharp down-angle of the clip-ons is reminiscent of Jarno Saarinen's set-up.

Could it be a young Jarno? confused.gif

Sorry, no this is former Monark GP- driver Lars Persson, who in 74 entered races on this privatly entered Penningson.
Built from parts purchased from the Monark factory by Lars Persson and Göran Henningson = Penningson.

Last year Persson and Henningson returned to the 50cc class, where Lars Persson drives a fast ZM Kreidler.
Here he is sandviched between Rolf Heljefors (Camaro) and Jon Nordstrøm (Emot- Minarelli), going through the esses - Sviesta 2008.

You couldn´t be more wrong on this matter!!!

Classic racing is all about having fun! - Some wants to relive their youth, others now got the time and means to realize their boyhood dreams, and last classic racing are for fully grown men, not boys!

And we are having fun! Fellow racer Jon Nordstrøm has had so much fun that he is Nordic- champion for the third year in a row!

Hi there

Who can argue against fun....... is it though the only consideration ? If classic racing is 'all about' this to the detriment of re-creating something that old codgers such as myself remember with great fondness, doesn't it then become something else ?

First I would like to comment on that weight discussion earlyer on this forum..
I say its allmost a state of mental issue nowadays..
havin said that of coarse it is far easyer to cary around 60 kg instead of 90kg the figure I have... tongue.gif

But I dont care that much about that and the people that knows me they shure knows
I find my way around both big and small guys,... lol.gif

Hi Hagar...I see you found this secret spot too.

About too big guys riding too small bikes:
I have a few 50cc racing friends in the UK ,and they like to come over to the continent.
Their complaint is always that 50cc racing is just not taken serious by a lot of people in the UK.
"Its something to have fun about...racing with miniature racers ,guess the rides are afraid to ride real bikes..."

We race those things because of the interesting technical complexity ,the beauty of the bikes ,and because they are demanding to race.
But when you do it right they are just extremely fast for their size.

Sometimes we have mixed runs. This gives an idea of how fast these bikes really are (even with too big guys on it)
250cc 4strokers and 125cc 1cilinder twostrokers can get in serious trouble on longer tracks.
On the short dutch roadcircuits even 350 or 500cc bikes must beware.

Another interesting fact:
A few years ago there were both a modern 50cc (tuned moped engines with 20mm carbs) 4 hour endurance race and a Italian youngtimer 4 hour endurance at Croix circuit in France.
Despite the fact that the Italian guys had very useful stuff like Laverda sfc replica's and raceprepared Ducati Pantahs their times compared to the 50cc guys were such that the would not have been fast enough for any podium place in the 50cc field..!

Hi

Fifty racing appeared in Britain in the late 50's but didnt flourish to the same extent as it did in Europe. This was probably largely due to there being too few quick and technically interesting bikes here; in the early to mid sixties most guys were on three speed Itoms. I can clearly remember the laughter emanting from the crowd when Itom mounted guys needed change down to climb up to Druids at Brands, and sometimes even to crest the little rise out of Clearways. Had Tohatsu or Kriedler for example made their racers more readily available here, the story would almost certainly have been different.

Thank you all for this warm welcome.
@Hägar....my body feels like its hit by a truck at the moment down.gif
For the other members i explain........last thursday i had an operation on my spine(back)and now i am recovering........ frown.gif
as soon as i know how to place some pic,s here i will do that.
The 50cc classic racing world is a small world and the majority of the racers know eachother,on this forum i have seen already a couple of guys i know.
It is not only racing what attracts us,it is also the technical challence to make a moped go fast.
When we meet again on the track it is about 1 hour of racing and 15 hours of talking about it,drinking coffee(or thea)and in Hägars case eating körve and hamburgare. tongue.gif
the most of us are a little older and easier then 30-40 years ago,but when we are sitting on the racer we all want to pass the guy in front of us smoking.gif
The main point is having fun,and in one piece going home.
rene
Hägar
Hoi Rene !
Putting out pics on the forum was not the easyest thing..
Right click the pics and copy the name http etc..
Then ad them in IMG Frame above.

AHA!!!!!!
Now I found the ealyer problem..
well this is my friend Rene and the Viking welding a exhaust that broke down during practice at Sviestad 2008.
Wery nice frienship between all of us,trying the hardest we can to kick back the fellow rider out on the track once more to play...
Everybody travells long stints to race and if things go bang there is often one fellow that have some peice of junk to repair the victim....
And a good welding device is just like a CPR in the paddock...:=)

Yes I cannot do it all alone...
Thanks to the joining of Hagar and Rene the technical level of this thread will reach new depths...
What we do basically is recycling old junk.
Rene is especially good at it...
A sane man would buy a new racer in the crate..but then again...they are mostly 4(wrong)strokers these days.
So we'll stick to the old 2stroke stuff.

The picture system on this forum is a bit difficult.
I didn't manage to get it done too.

Greetings,

well.......when there is no old junk left you have to create new old junk............
and thats just what i am doing with my Suzuki-project.
A Suzuki rm 64 is so rare there are no more parts or bikes available,so you have to fabricate all parts yourselve.
I am working the last 4-5 years on the bike and now i have good hope the bike will be ready for next years race in Linköping in august.
the frame, tank, seat wheels and brakes are ready and the engine casings are being casted now.
when the engine casings are ready casting there will be a lot of machining on them, the parts are already waiting for the casings, cranck, gearbox, cillinder, clutch and sprockets are ready to go clap.gif
as soon as i figure it out how to get some pic,s here i will show you.

the Suzuki is not the only project i am working on,a couple of weeks ago i converted a Sachs engine from an upright cillinder to an horizontal cillinder, the plan is to built a new frame for this engine before the start of the season.
It will be a monocoque frame from around 1979 with casted wheels and a disc brake.
rene

this are pic,s of some casted suzuki engine parts and wooden models of the casings

I never cared for photobucket either. I use imageshack. Much easier and you can resize photos as you load them.
