Interesting how opinions can differ
To me it's most annoying and unrealistic feature. It should be car element that is bouncing, not the whole picture. Human brain immediately adjusts to movement like that and while your whole body shakes, your eyesight it's... more less... clear and focused as your eyeballs counteract the movements or your brain 'adjusts' what eyeball musles are not quick enough to work out. If the real world worked like some rFactor/mods you would need sick bag every time you walk the stairs LOL
The problem that happens with violent vibration is when G forces slow down the blood flow rate and cause the micro blackouts, but the 'stablilization' of the eyesight is always there. At least for the brain that is used to such a workout
as an aside, if you do find that annoying you can reduce it - go into the vehicle mod folder and look for the cockpit info file (you can right-click on it and select 'open with' to open with notepad). There's a line in there called 'CockpitVibrationMag' which can be altered (or reduced to 0) if you find it annoying. (please dont forget, if you race online you may need to create a backup of the cockpit info file to avoid mismatch errors, although i don't remember if this is one of the cross-checked files)

The 79 mod is brilliant, indeed. Hard to believe that F1 cars were so jumpy. Without any aids on the car bounces like crazy on the straight. The only problem I have is finding setups on the internet. A lot of links, but most of them don't work... I wish that there was a setup guide for rFactor like that of Doug Arnao for GP2...
One of the reasons for the jumpiness is that a lot of tracks for the '79 mod is orgininating from GPL which, when converted, gives a very large quantity of jumps that are very timeconsuming to smooth out afterwards.
There's no attchement on this BB, right? I'm no setup guru but if you want my lot of setups for the '79 tracks, send me a note.

Interesting, about the GPL tracks being used for rFactor... I have to say that the 79 mod is almost as hard as the GPL game. I mean: GPL is harder to drive, but once you know the track (at least) you can easily run the same laptimes. With rFactor I can win 3 seconds at lap by being really attacking, especially in the slow sections. Or, reverse, be 3 seconds slower by being carefull. Quite challenging, never had a game that worked that way so well.

By any chance: anyone has a no-dvd crack for Polish retail version of Rfactor? Or knows how to get one? I managed to scratch the DVD in a way which makes the entire disc unrecognisable for the system so I get 'please insert the correct DVD' message each time I try t launch the game. I registered at the the site of company selling the game and they have graciously offered me a 20% discount for a new copy of the game AFTER they had asked me for my email, full address and scans of receipt as 'exchange of the DVD is only possible within 3 weeks from the date of purchase'. **** that. I found a crack for English retail version but it doesn't work. <cries>.
edit: please PM me rather than post info here.

Try CTRL + M. You can customise keyboard shortcut in plug-in settings.

Currently i'm at closing stages of pre-season testing for Tyka 2010 F1 League. Driving F1 WCP 2.0(1) mod - and it's great. MMG was great last season, F1 WCP is probably a bit more enjoyable. Simulation of wake conditions is very good... probably too good

Yeah that seems to work, sort of feather the throttle, then once you're into 2nd gear it's much more stable.. but as soon as I hit a bumb, around I go again.

It's quite fun.

What kind of controller do you use? If you use pedals and wheel, use the old trick of stuffing a tennisbal under your pedal. If that is not possible, go the controller settings and play with the deadzone and sensitivity stuff there. It made the world of difference for me (now I just have to get braking for chicanes down).

BTW:
Has anyone encountered the following problem: during the race in rFactor there is a full course yellow... but the pace-car doesn't show up on the track. The result is I and the other cars have to crawl over the track at 17 mph per hour... for the rest of the race!

What's up with Rfactor Central, it hasn't let me register for the last 6 months, and i cant even complain on the forums without a username.
I get the error 'A user with that name already exists' even after trying hundreds of random UNs.
Frustrating not being able to get any updates.

Well that helps, after hours of frustration with my wheel I bothered to check that I had the right drivers (which I didn't) and now my pedals will give me full throttle
Anyone got a decent car pack/setup for China? I downloaded a track but it's a nightmare setup wise. Really difficult track too.

I've been using the FSone 2008 cars and the TCGP circuit as it looks pretty much spot on when compared to the red bull simulator version. It's also the one that is used on the Ferrari website and voiced over by Mark Gene. You can find them both at
rfactorcentralThe circuit is quite tricky with the first corner being very unusual. We're gonna see mucho overtaking on that long straight this weekend.
Yeah it's pretty awesome to see real life drivers doing exactly what you do wrong in rFactor. Turn 1 is a beast.

Guys do you mean corner 1, or do you mean the combination of 1,2,3 and 4? I think the latter. Corner 1 is not very difficult on itself... it's the exit that screws you, because if you are to wide there you will never get to the apex of 2, and 3, and 4!
I think slow is actually the fastest. Brake very late with some trailbraking in to the first part. Get very, very, slow... get to the extreme right. Get even slower, and go the left... if you are very, very careful with your throttle you can acclerate (sort of!) around 3 and 4 into the short straight.

I've seen reports of a 2010 F1 mod but I haven't seen it yet. I tend to race FSone 2008 when I race modern F1 cars. Here's a link to a 'you tube' video lap of Monza with the FSone 2008 Maclaren:

I play the 1985, 1988 and 1993 F1 mods the most often. Haven't really played the more modern years a lot. It's just not my thing.
For the xbox controller you need a special driver on the PC or you can't use LT and RT at the same time. But i would recommend to play with wheel only anyway. The xbox controller just doesn't allow the kind of precise steering that is necessary. I'm at least 2-3 seconds faster with wheel on any track.

I can play any mod (Le Mans 1970, The 79 mod, the 99 mod, Legend GT cars) with ALL the eye-candy on... and the framerate stays good. But the 1985 game seems to eat my cpu if there are more than five cars visible. Anyone else had that problem?

thanks guys, going to try a few of them now

downloading FSone 2008 currently
I've got the '68 mod, never heard of a '67 mod for rFactor. Also got a 2010 season mod from a league site:still needs a bit of tweaking with the AI and physics but it's okay for now.
As for best mods I'd say CTDP 2006,FSONE 2008 (stunning graphics and physics),plus the 1985 and '88 mods,of course. Manhandling a misbehaving Renault RE60 through Casino square is a joy!
As for Turn 1 at Shanghai carrying maximum speed into the corner and braking late works for the downhill S works best for my style. I've found any time lost by running wide is more than compensated for by the speed carried into the corner.
Ok I hate to regress on this... I'm haveing a rough time downloading mods for Rfactor. Are there written instructions on how to download mods? I'm running windows vista home premium. Maybe that is the first problem... lol
