The butty van at Rhualt Hill is OK, as I imagine would be the American Diner before you get to Holywell,
with Yank sized and Yank style breakfasts.

I suggest the circuit cafe nowadays. It would give the infamous Mallory breakfast a run for its money.

A barrage of stuff from last weekend's Anglesey meeting is currently on display here - http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?showtopic=78082 - at the TNF Northern & Welsh gallery... Meanwhile, here is Simon Hadfield's Lotus 51.

A trio of Imps from the same meeting.

As we leave Anglesey and travel east......and back in time to 1985, we arrive in time for the Marlboro F3 Championship round at Oulton Park on the 17th August.

Dave Coyne. Dave Price Racing Reynard 853

Ross Cheever. Intersport Racing Ralt RT30

To nit pick Alan, Scott was run by Intersport, and Cheever by Valour/Upton that year from memory. Did van Kouwen win that race, my bro' had just started working for Pegasus. Though these 2 facts are entirely unrelated...
Alan Cox
I took my info from OldRacingCars, rather than check with the programme. Yes. van Kouwen won

I'm not sure what subsequently happened to the Valour/Cheever Ralt, but what's that lurking in the background? Could it be the Citroën CX ambulance later acquired by photographic talisman Don Williamson?

Great variety of cars in f3 in the 80's, compare that now to the strong hold dallara has on the f3 market.

Andy King No4, Mark Blundell No1, Johnny Herbert in the red Quest, not sure about the hero in the Reynard 85FF [what a hound of a car], Butcher Booth No6, Jonathan Bancroft in the green Racefax Van Diemen [or Jeremy Packer?] pass on the rest.....

Chevron B8 Ray Bellm? and Mike Wheatley BRM P154

BRM 154 surely? The P153 was a GP car and the only other Can-Am car, the P167 fell off a container ship mid Atlantic. The Chevron B8 appears to say "Metro Racing" on it's side, whoever they were.

Correct BRM P154

The Chevron says Mycill Racing under a spy glass.

Mycil was one of the products made by the Bellm pharmaceutical firm IIRC. The black car on the inside at Paddock Hill Bend looks like a Healey Silverstone- a somewhat incongruous car in such a field.

There is also a Mu-cron decal on the B8's flying buttress, another of Bellm's brands.

I don't know if you remember, Alansart, but if you were Emergency Services at Silverstone in the early 70s, there was a case of a certain ES member who spent more time using his camera than his flag/bottle and said member got into enough trouble to have some time out before going into Observing - apparently the concentration levels required are not so great?!

I raced Formula E against Peter and I also have a PRS, so lent him the odd spares on occasion, although more than once his damage was my fault anyway blush.gif

Peter and your dad were always smiling despite racing on sweet FA of a budget smile.gif

How are they doing these days?

On the odd occasion that Kidderminster Harriers FC make it onto Final Score, I always think of the pale blue PRS, Pete, Rob and that nice young lad that made me an ashtray out of an old piston - and I've still got it thanks.

There was an E race televised at Brands over the Festival weekend, although I think that was earlier than 88.

The first time I met Pete and your dad was at Oulton Park when they had, what looked like, a home built Formula Ford. It was in the evening after practice and they had half the engine in bits trying to sort out a problem before the race next day. Opinions were sought and offered at what was wrong although in the end I don't think it was sorted completely. After that there was always a chat and a smile which is how Formula E was in those days smile.gif
