I thought I would do a Hamilton and keep the suspense going until the last possible minute but I think I have done a Glock and let too many pass at the last corner so end up with a disappointment. But seriously folks here are the results for the final, chamionpship deciding, round in Brazil. Crazy Canuck and mark f1 tied for the top step with a very good 21 points. Third was a 2 way tie 2 points back D82 and estoril85 scoring 19. Once again no new players this round. The average grid scored a consistent 18. WDC and SuperStat both scored 16 points. The average score of all players this round was a little weaker than China on 15.8. Here is the full result table for this Brazil

With some good scores by a couple of contenders and a mediocre score from the leader what has happened to the season to date table? Well the first thing I can say is that if Mark f1 hadn't been late in China he would have been on the podium. Then I would have had to think about his penalty again. A late surge by a previous title holder did manage to get him onto the podium. So, in reverse order here is the final result for GTG 2008. 2006 champion shays climbs 1 position to be second equal with sergino, both closing the gap to 1st but not quite being able to close the divide. So (drum roll please) it is with great pleasure that I declare Juan Kerr as GTG Champion for 2008 and we still do not have anyone that has managed it twice. Congratulations Jaun Kerr. Biggest movers this round were mark f1 and Crazy Canuck climbing 5 places each to be 4th= and 16th respectively. The final scores for the bot entries STD are Average Grid finished with 264 points, not far off the podium. While WDC has 232 putting it about mid pack and Superstat finished on 240 for 22nd =.

Thanks Garth, and congrats to Juan Kerr! Your last guess was pretty much tactical...:)

Thanks ! Yes it was tactical but it turned out pretty rubbish I think one of my worst of the year. It is so hard to predict the last half of the top ten though I think that's where all the points were lost or gained. Through the year I had faith in Hamilton and Trulli mostly. Also I looked at Massa's favourite tracks, lost a lot of points with Heidfeld of whom I rate highly and I think everyone lost faith in the Williams's and brought the STR's in.

Thanks Garth for super-fast results it keeps the competition rolling I think for some of the people on the fringes. Thanks to Gerry also of course next year should will be very interesting I think.

See you all next year, regards Juan.

Congratulations to Juan Kerr, a worthy winner indeed. Keeping it is not easy though :p

Thanks garth for the quick update and excellent running of the competition throughout the years.

Well done Juan!

I gave up half way through after missing a couple of rounds.

Did anyone keep the same grid throughout the season? Anyone care to work out what was the average combined result?

The average combined result, or Average Grid as I called it was 264. Unless you mean the average of all entries which would be meaningless because of the 40 odd people that didn't run the whole season.

if you are meaning the total of the average scores from each round it is a top 20 result of 248.

I don't keep copies of people's entries from round to round so I can not tell you if anyone kept the same grid throughout the season. What I have noticed in the past is that often the actual grid from the previous round becomes the guess for the current round for some people. Actually I might use that as a BOT entry next year.

I meant (but didnt explain too well) the average grid positions of the drivers.

IE If Lewis averaged position 2.1, Massa, 2.4, Kimi, 3.2, Kubica, 3.6, Heikki 4.3 etc

The idea being to establish the average top 10 of the entire season and if this was entered each round would it have won the title (im guessing not due to anomolies scoring highly).

Was just asking because I cant be bothered to work it out!

Ok, That is the SuperStat entry which is based on the season to date qualifying position which becomes pretty stable by about the mid point of the season. Super stat scored 240 for 22nd = for the year.

Its quite difficult to beat Average Grid, if you can mix that with a bit of driver track preference knowledge (e.g. Massa) and some current team form (e.g. STR) you should do well in theory.
