During the US board track era there were stock car races held at several tracks. These were usually support races for the "Indy" car races and were apparently AAA sanctioned. A bit is known about the stock car races at Rockingham (Salem NH) but I've seen evidence that there were stock car races at San Carlos, California and at Charlotte, North Carolina. Does anybody know anything about these races or other stock car events on the board tracks?

If anyone would know, it would be Dick Wallen who wrote a book on the board tracks. Go to: http://www.classicca...llen/wallen.htm

You can contact him at the telephone number listed on that site or you may be able to find an email address there instead. Let us know what you find. You have stimulated my curiosity as well, especially since we had a board track in my area (Kansas City) back in the 1920's.

Thanks Joe Fan for suggesting Dick Wallen but I have checked with him and he said that his research did not extend to support races. Anything you could find out about possible stock car support races at Kansas City would be greatly appreciated. Newspaper microfilms might have something but that sort of research is very time consuming.

I have a few photos of stock cars at the San Carlos board track and, about ten years ago, contacted a man who drove what could be called a track roadster at Charlotte. I also have stock car photos from Rockingham---these are fairly common.

I can do some checking on Uniontown. I live nearby.

It may take some time, however, as I am busy as hell at the moment.

Not stock cars but good information.

Twinny, since the original thread is dated should we change the name or perhaps combine with one more appropriate? This topic is very entertaining.

''MIami, FL (Fulford-by-the-Sea) 1.25 miles 1926-1927''

the miami track didnot last passed the sept 1926 hurricane
and resulting local crash of property values
[it was build as realestate promotion]
so saddly 1926 only
and a big pile of splinters after sept 1926
