First of all, a big thank you to all those who have been voting this year, especially the regulars! I'll try to come up with a nice page for the whole voting shebang on my Atlas website sooner or later. Now, back to business:

Results of the Japan voting

1) Michael Schumacher (24*2 vote points + 9*1 vote point = 57) 10 points
2) Juan Pablo Montoya (8*2 + 28*1 = 44) 6 points
3) Fernando Alonso (3*2 + 12*1 = 18) 4 points
4) Mika Häkkinen (1*2 + 13*1 = 15) 3 points
5) Giancarlo Fisichella (0*2 + 9*1 = 9) 2 points
6) Eddie Irvine (0*2 + 3*1 = 3) 1 point
7) Jenson Button (0*2 + 2*1 = 2)
8) Rubens Barrichello (0*2 + 1*1 = 1)
9) Enrique Bernoldi (0*2 + 1*1 = 1)
10) Jean Alesi (0*2 + 1*1 = 1)

Places 8-10 decided by race result.

The individual votes can be found at the voting thread:
http://www.atlasf1.c...&threadid=30044

Votes that didn't comply with the 2-1-1 points system:
130R, tim: No clear top driver. One point given to each mentioned driver.
Coupe: Unclear Schumacher. Points given to the other two mentioned drivers.
andviv: No clear top driver AND unclear Schumacher. One point given to each other mentioned driver.

Voting Championship final standings 2001:

1) Michael Schumacher 83 points (five wins, ten podium finishes in total)
2) Juan Pablo Montoya 63 points (two wins, ten podiums)
3) David Coulthard 40 points (one win, four podiums)
4) Mika Häkkinen 37 points (three wins)
5) Ralf Schumacher 37 points (two wins, five podiums)
6) Rubens Barrichello 36 points (one win, five podiums)
7) Kimi Räikkönen 27 points (four podiums)
8) Eddie Irvine 24 points (one win, two podiums)
9) Giancarlo Fisichella 17 points (one win)
10) Nick Heidfeld 15 points (one podium)
11) Jos Verstappen 13 points (one win)
12) Jean Alesi 12 points (two podiums)
13) Heinz-Harald Frentzen 7 points (one podium)
14) Jacques Villeneuve 7 points
15) Fernando Alonso 6 points (one podium)
16) Pedro de la Rosa 5 points (one podium)
17) Enrique Bernoldi 5 points
18) Olivier Panis 3 points
19) Jarno Trulli 3 points
20) Jenson Button 1 point
21) Tomas Enge 1 point

Mika Häkkinen moved up from sixth place to fourth and Fernando Alonso gained a couple of positions. Tie breaker between drivers scoring equal points has been top results (Mika beats Ralf due to more wins, for example).

The 2001 Voting WCC

1) Ferrari 119 points (6 wins)
2) Williams 100 points (4 wins)
3) McLaren 77 points (4 wins)
4) Sauber 42 points
5) Jaguar 29 points (1 win)
6) Arrows 18 points (1 win)
7) Benetton 18 points (1 win
8) Jordan 15 points
9) BAR 10 points
10) Prost 8 points
11) Minardi 6 points

Good stuff, interesting distinctions from the total year votes, thanx for all the work Makarius -- both crunching the numbers and nursing the thread back to the top of BB in the latter part of each race week.;)

I'd like to say cheers for taking it off my hands and not totally ruining it :)

How about doing a comparison with the IRL points & positions? Show us the winners and losers

Makarias - thanks for your hard work. These Voting threads are the 1st I look for after each Grand Prix.

Its interesting to note that despite everyone looking down at Montoya's first half of the season - he received quite a few podiums early on.

Its interesting to compare the season totals to the Atlas Reader's choice results in the thread below:

As you said Mak - this Voting championship rewards the better cars a little more - basically because we pick them from race to race and not looking back in hindsight at the season past.

thanks Makarias.

also interesting that despite how much people put Irvine down, he finished 8th in the championship. then again, poor Trulli, who was IMO the best qualifier of the year, finished way down in 19th.

Thanks Makarias - interesting result :D

Seems that BB folks appreciate MH much more than Atlasf1 team, who voted Mika to spot 11. BB folks did not include Fernando Alonso among top 10, but Atlasf1 valued him to 6th psn.

I've made a homepage for the voting championship here:

http://members.atlas...arias/vote.html

It is not overly complete yet, I'm planning to add some stuff later on. For now though, the Totals page with tables on which drivers have scored most points etc over the years might be pretty interesting to read, I hope. :)
