I wonder if there is any call for a small (25 mm diameter or thereabouts) badge announcing its wearer as a TNF member?

I am off on holiday in about 8 hours but when I get back, if I find any take up on this thread, I will look into the situation regarding the production of same. I know that school used to have a machine for making badges and if I can gain access to it I am quite prepared to make any number of them.

I envisage a simple image of a car (say, a 250F) with the letters TNF over it. Nothing flash or ostentatious.... I am sure I could knock them out for no real cost and would require just a self-addressed stamped envelope to send them off.

Anyone interested?

Yes, I would be interested.

I assume that many of us have some old cars that we drive every now and then, what about a proper car badge? I don't want to make this real complicated but just tossing the idea out there.

Cheers,

Ron

Good idea...a way to identify TNF'ers at such places as Goodwood. Perhaps Atlas would let us use the "A" logo with TNF on it somehere.

Remember the F1 Register used the Ferrari 500-005 as its logo...s'pose we cannot nick it, I'm sure many people here will have contributed to it.

Whatever car or cars are chosen, it should surely be a rear view?

I look forward to wearing the TNF badge as a fitting accessory to my Archie SB T-shirt...this being the proud logo there displayed....

Splendid idea, Barry! Just a suggestion though, instead of putting a picture of car, why not go along with the shape of badge? OK, this is just a pic to give idea what I mean, one would need to make a nice drawing for actual badge:

Assuming Paul goes along with the idea, sounds good. I like the idea of the wheel with the 250F (naturally...) superimposed upon it..... But, anything "appropriate" is okay with me as well. It seems to be an idea whose time just may have arrived.

I really fancy the idea of a rear view of a car or two cars... symbolism and all... maybe Brockbank style?

bira, can we wear these on the Tee-shirts we get with our webspace and e.mail accounts?

OK. So I am in a minority of one here......but why do we need a badge? Why not a secret handshake and an initiation ceremony too? Isn't it just another form of exhibitionism, rather like those people who feel compelled to wear clothes with the maker's name splattered all over them. I'll remain Mr Low Profile!

I suspect your view on 'designer' gear is the same as mine, Ian. If Nike wants me to advertise their product, they can pay me.
However, a visual means of recognising each other at an event such as the Goodwood FOS seems to make sense

As Barry thought of it, could the badge feature a slot racing version of the Connew?

Daft question...does Barry actually HAVE a slot car racing version of the Connew?
Whatever....I agree that the Connew should be the car on the badge.

Like David, I agree with you on "designer" garb - there was a nice cartoon in Private Eye a few months back showing lots of people wearing shirts saying "FCUKWIT" on them :D

But a small badge is hardly exhibitionist and I know there's at least one Luddite around these parts who doesn't even use a mobile phone - how is he or she supposed to be recognised by other TNFers (assuming he or she wants to be)?

And sometimes something near designer gear can be reasonably stylish and understated - this Racing History Group shirt wouldn't really be appropriate garb for the Revival Meeting, but quite acceptable for the Festival, I think.

Agreed, as it happens - I look on mine as a necessary evil as I'm a keyholder for work and have to be theoretically available 24/7.

Jaxs: there's no such thing as a tasteful baseball cap! And let's get the badge idea off the ground first - no point in running before we can walk.

Such a badge could, of course, also double up as the first piece of mechandise from the Connew Supporter's Club. Former members such as myself are still waiting!

Or how about TNF in hexagonal red lettering like on the chassis plate? Or a badge based on the chassis plate itself? That way, we can all have badges with our member number instead of chassis number?

Love the idea of a Connew badge.
