Perran of this great "1977 Season" mod project for the Racing Sim "F1 2002"

http://www.simmods.c...8&t=6449&st=140

is still looking for pics from 1977 (thanks to all for the help so far  ).

What they still need are for example more pics of the McLaren M26, anything I forgot Perran?

BTW: Just got this question from Perran:

"Do you think anyone at the AtlasF1 forums would know anthing about the technical regualations for 1977? We've only been able to do things like the wing heights/widths by guess work, but to build them to the exact dimensions would be much better"

I guess this should be no problem for you TNF guys ;)

BTW: Here are two previews of the sim gfx (no pre rendering *this* is realtime - how it looks in the game)

BTW: I've never seen before such acurate 3D realtime gfx of cars from 1977. For me it's just a childhood dream come true - driving for example Watties Brabham BT45 B in a almost photorealistic computer sim

Please support this great mod project, even if you don't like computer "games" at all ;) Perhaps you got some other useful infos, corrections, ideas, etc. Maybe they forgot a sort of must have "bonus car"? I understand they even plan to include tracks from 1977 (remember it's a mod for a sim based on 2002) - so there's much room for help :)

Thanks!

Hi Lutz G.

It’s look really nice.

In this game of yours, is it then possible to drive in Emerson Fittipaldi’s Copersucar F5. ?

In your post I noticed something regarding the Copersucar team of 1977. Ingo Hoffman never drove the F5. Ingo Hoffman only drove for the team in Argentina and his home race in Brazil and this in the old car the FD04. The F5 didn’t show up before midseason. I don’t know if this has any meaning regarding to your game. But now you know.

I support the wish regarding David Purley’s Lec-Ford, and don’t forget the rabbit.;)

Best Regards

CSGPR> Thanks for pointing out the mistake with Ingo Hoffman. I think we'll exclude him from the drivers line-up or maybe include his FD04 car as an optional extra. And yes, it will be possible to drive Fittipaldi's F5- and thanks to our physics experts it should drive like the real thing too (perhaps not so great for Fitttipaldi fans!) :)

On David Purley’s Lec: if I can find enough referance material I'll include that one. I'm also thinking about including the BRM- but again it depends on the reference material available.

Wouldn't a copy of the FIA Yellow Book for '77 supply all the technical regulations? Or do you need the specs for each car?

What kind of photos of the M26?

By the by, I'm in to buy this when its ready. That Lotus 78 looks fantastic. Any chance of a '78 season - pretending to be Mario or Ronnie in the Black Beauty 79 would be a dream!!

Hey, what a splendid idea! 1977 was about the first season I was following F1 consciously (well, I have a few pre-'77 memories, but I didn't miss a thing since that season!), and therefore the year has a special place in my heart.

What do you need for technical regulations?

max. width: 215 cm
max. heigth: 90 cm from surface
max. distance from front to middle of front wheels: 120 cm
max. distance from rear to middle of rear wheels: 80 cm
max. width of tyres: 21"
max. diameter of tyres: 26"
max. width of front wing: 150 cm
max. width of parts over rim heigth (front and rear): 110 cm
max. width of body between axles: 140 cm
min. cockpit opening length: 60 cm
min. cockpit opening width: 45 cm

Ah, and as for cars, don't forget the Stanley-BRM P207, the Kojima/Ford KE009 and, of course, the Lec/Ford CRP1. What about the McGuire/Ford BM1 and the Apollon/Ford? Naah, forget it......

PLEAZZZZZZZZZZZE, include all the 1977 tracks, and don't let us run on today's *&§%$(%§ bloody $§/%&" bullshit circuits!!!! Imagine, Buenos Aires No. 15, the original Long Beach, Mosport Park, Zandvoort, the Glen, even Anderstorp and Dijon-Prenois!!!!

One question, though: what does "unlockable" mean?

Hi Ruairidh

If the FIA Yellow Book for '77 did have the technical regulations, then that would be exactly what we're after :D But I don't where to get hold of that, or what it is!

After we've finished this season, I'm planning on doing some 78 cars. I've already started making a Lotus 79 - in my opinion the best looking F1 car ever produced :)

Fines- just read your post, and I am very happy!! Thats exactly the info i was looking for- thankyou!

We will be including the 77 tracks- driving these cars just wouldn't be the same on modern tracks ;)
And 'unlockable' means that you will have to achieve an objective (eg winning a race) to gain access to that car.

Be sure to let us know how to buy when this is ready. I'm going to get a copy of F1 2002 later this week - I've not bought any game since GP Legends but this has really whetted my appetite.

...and if you do do a Lotus 79 please let us know!

Hi again

Well the BRM P207 must certainly wasn’t a beauty, but the car is a part of F1 history. in fact 1977 was the closing chapter of on of the greatest marks in F1, so I would be pleased if I was allow to drive the car on Silverstone in a monent of my own.

By your request, the BRM P207... Here's a computer render of the car.

The car will be included with the mod. No release date for it as yet I'm afraid.

Really?

Buzzbomb did a great job 3d modelling the BRM P207 - but between all those 1977 beauties like Wolf WR1, Lotus 78 (see pics in my above posting) or the McLaren M26 (did you see Buzzbomb's superb version?) - well the BRM is not really that good looking IMO - far away from any "all time" Top 10...

BTW: The BRM got other front wings on that pic...

Hmmm... I don't like that shot so much :D

I think it's just the whole nose job I like (the rest of the car is eye-friendly). Don't like the nose with the non-raked wings though :|

I'm guessing that's the "P207C" - which I think young Mr Pilette might be able to help us with - didn't Teddy run it in Aurora in that form?

The "last BRM" of the FORCE stand is the "Jordan BRM" which raced in Aurora in 1980.
The colour was some kind of BRG, an ugly and slow car and it's noise was not better, the engines
running never on all the twelve cylinders.

Hi petefenelon!
Sorry, I just saw your message now.
Yes, that BRM ended in the Aurora serie but i don't know more about it.
Teddy must have more pictures in his photo-albums but I'm planning to scan them much more later
I'm occupied, during my spare time, to scan André Pilette's pictures but it look likes it gonna take me months to scan those ones first (more than 400 pictures at least) and I have to invest in a new computer, a pro. scanner and printer.

See you,

Here's Patrese ;) . We're trying to make this mod as accurate as possible but it's a tough job creating 3D models of the lesser known cars as there isn't a lot of reference material about for these. We'll try our best though!

Well, SimBin never released the 77-Mod (I don't know exactly why til today). And I was very very disappointed. But the other day I had a look at this 1975-F1-Mod - I mean just look at the screenshots (Nuerburgring Nordschleife!)!. It's just superb! And the Ford-Cosworth engine sound is awesome!

You need the Sim "F1 Challenge 99-02" by Electronic Arts and the Mod:

BTW: Of course I choose John Watson (as you can see above). So Wattie drove the Lotus 72 during the German GP 1975? IMO in all (?) the other GPs he drove for Surtees. What was the reason for this one race for Lotus? Was it no problem in the old days to have a go for another team in the middle of the Championship?

Wattie drove for Surtees until the British GP and then joined Team Lotus for a one-off drive at the Nurburgring as Surtees weren't attending. He went back to Surtees for Austria, and then drove for Penske in the final two GPs of 1975 after Surtees withdrew for the balance of the season.

BTW John's an Ulsterman (i.e. he's from Northern Ireland), and therefore his national emblem should be the Union Flag.

A lot of info on the 1975 mod are on this thread :
1975 research at TNF

Maybe both could be merged as 1977 mod did not come out?

No, the Simbin team had the chance to go and make commercial games/sims. They've done pretty well at that, releasing GTR (FIA-GT sim) and GT-legends (FIA-GTC-TC sim). GTR2 is currently in development.
