In my own records, I miss a twenty or so of Formula Junior European race winners.
As I do not own the F3 books by the Formula One Register, as they are not reported in the Autosport issues I own, and as they are not foundable on the various web sites went to, can somebody fill my gaps ?
They are :
Salerno, 14 September 1958
Modena, 28 September 1958
Modena, 26 Octpber 1958
Vallelunga, 1 November 1958
Siracusa, 28 december 1958
Montlhéry, 3 May 1959
Montlhéry, 27 September 1959
Montlhéry, 4 October 1959
Graz, 11 October 1959
Cortina d'Ampezzo, 6 January 1960
Mallory Park, 21 May 1960
Brands Hatch, 29 May 1960
Falkenberg, 5 August 1961
Skarpnäck, 10 September 1961
Roskilde, 1 October 1961
all 1962 Swedish races (except the international Karlskoga, 22 August)
Roskilde, 7 June 1964
Roskilde, 16 September 1964

About US race results, I miss 5 race winners :
- Porto Rico, 10 April 1960
- Pomona, 12 March 1961
- Vaca Valley, 20 August 1961
- Lime Rock, 30 June 1962
- Thompson, 2 September 1963

There also were FJ races in Canada, but I just know 3 race winners, all at Mosport, of 24 june 1961, 30 September 1961 & 23 September 1962. Does somebody have more ?

If somebody is interested, I can send him / her the FJ race winners as a Microsoft Word attached file to an email.

Roskilde, 1 October 1961 Joerges Bagger, Lola/Ford Mk 2 [/B]

All from Sheldon's FJunior book Vol. 1, unchecked.

[and it's a measure of TNFs proliferation that I was hurrying in preparing this post ]

What caught my eye was that I remembered Timmy Mayer in a Cooper winning the 1962 F-Jr. race in June at Lime Rock and subsequently being disqualified. Sure enough, upon looking it up Tim was found 30 pounds underweight in the post race scrutineering and the win went to Floyd Aaskov as noted above. By the way, 2nd place was Ernie DeVos in a Lola and 3rd was William Smith in a Cooper.

The 1963 Thompson race you were looking for on Sept. 2 was won by Gaston Andrey in a Lotus 18. 2nd was Ernie DeVoss in a Brabham and 3rd was Jim Haynes in a Lotus 20.

The 12 March 1961 race at Pomona was won by Jack McAffee in a Lotus at 77.95 mph. 2nd was Ken Miles in a Dophin-Ford and 3rd was Rolf Roth in a Lotus.

The 20 August 1961 Vaca Valley race was won by Pat Pigott in a Lotus 20 at 82.0 mph. 2nd was Pete Lovely in a Lotus 20 and 3rd was Jack Dalton in a BMC MkI.

Source for all this is the archives of the International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen with special thanks to Bill Green on a Saturday morning!

I'd appreciate a copy of your Formula Junior winners' list. And thank you in all those other threads expanding my knowledge of motor sport events much earler than FJ.

Mike Argetsinger
My Formula Junior car will probably race against that ex Timmy Mayer Cooper Formula Junior( owned by a South Australian friend ) next year . Underweight, eh? I sniff a protest in the air.

Jimmy

Formula Juniors were spread rather thinly in Canada. At club level they usually competed in F.libre races and if they had their own race it was often run concurrently with other classes. At the major meetings "stand alone" races were bolstered by entries from The States.

From an incomplete run of Canada Track and Traffic I have gleaned the following additional races:-

10/06/1961 Mosport..... Peter Keith ......Lotus 18
06/08/1961 Mosport..... Walt Mackay... .Lotus 18

15/04/1962 Westwood Terry Nilsson .....Lola 3
20/05/1962 Davidson....R.Finch..............Gemini 3A
17/06/1962 St Eugene..Ernie DeVos.......Lola 3
25/08/1962 Harewood..Ernie DeVos.......Lola 3
08/09/1962 Mosport......Ernie DeVos......Lola 3
29/09/1962 Mosport..... Chuck Dietrich...Elva 300

05/05/1963 Westwood Bob McLean.......Cooper T59
01/06/1963 Mosport.....John Cannon......Lola 5A
14/07/1963 Mosport.....Bob McLean........Cooper T59

Thanks to you all, friends, now I think I'm almost complete with Formula Junior.

Last information lacking :

- Porto 23 August 1958. What car was driven by Manuel Nogueira Pinto ?
- USA. San Marcos, 10 April 1960. Winner ?
- Scandinavia 1960. I have race resiults for Helsinki (15 May), Roskilde (22 May), Karlskoga (7 August) and Roskilde (11 September). Were there other races in this area ?
- Scandinavia 1961. Were there races there after (& including) October ?
- USA. Who were the SCCA formula junior champion for the years 1963, 1964, 1965 ?
- USA 1963. What was the race (venue & date), if any, won by Lothar Motschenbacher in a Lotus / Ford ?

Do not hesitate to ask me to send these race winner files (MSW) — they are free for enthusiasts.

What part of the US is San Marcos in? I haven't heard of a race track by that name.

I don't have results, but the (eBay-sourced) slide is marked "May 1964", the venue is Del Mar, California, and the No. 11 car looks to me like Lothar (It's not)):

Korskro-banen is in Denmark, not far from Esbjerg. It's a big oval track, around 1000 metres. It's a shale track, mostly used for longtrack speedway. There is an ordinary speedwaytrack on the infield. Also a motocross-track.
Much to my surprise, there is another similiar motorsport venue near Fredrikshavn, which is called - Ornerdals-banen!

Västkustloppet (West Coast Race) has been run on a track near Falkenberg in Sweden since the early fifties. The first track was called Skrea-banan and was a road course. 1967 a purpose race track was built.

Phil Binks tells me the Dolphin Formula Junior last raced by Ken Miles at Mexico City in January, 1961, is nearing the end of its restoration. Phil says he understands from his Dolphin team materials that Miles came fifth. He did not know who won, nor any of the other placings. Thanks to Jimmy Piget's generosity in distributing his collections of data, I could tell Phil who won the January 15 race (Ricardo Rodriguez, Cooper-BMC), but no more.

My Googles have been fruitless. Can someone tell me the remainder of the results, or where to find them?

Thank you.
