... and it's copied on my site as well, with a little bit extra information. But I'm certainly no expert.

Has Trans-Am died? I have been looking for the 2006 calandar and found nothing.

The Official Trans-Am Website seems to be dead, and with it all access to the historical result archive.

No mention of the 2006 series on the SCCA website except this from December last year..

"With Champ Car's decision not to renew the Trans-Am name in 2006, SCCA is considering its options of how the name might be utilized in the future. These options include, but are not limited to, licensing the name out to another organization for a racing series or utilizing the name ourselves."

Maybe Modern Trans-Am is a shadow of it's former self, but it seems a shame that a 40 year old series should just disappear without a word...

That is a shame.

I checked on WayBack and could only retrieve the 1966 PDF. Did anybody grab those PDFs? I'd be happy to rehost them until their owner turns up again. PM me if you're shy. :)

Anyone know what the cars & drivers that were doing TransAm last season are doing in '06? Have not seen any report of a replacement series.

Rob,

More than half the grid last year was made up of GTA & GT-1 class cars, and some of those were already part of the American GT Challenge series.

I guess in the short term, some of the pukka TransAm cars / drivers may join in that series aswell.

puk·ka also puck·a adj.
1. Genuine; authentic.
2. Superior; first-class

pukka Trans Am Drivers????

One day I was talking to Craig Fisher and he was telling me that he thought getting Geritoll as a sponsor was a good idea for vintage racing.

Geritol should have been the Trans Am series sponsor in the past decade or two.

THe last pukka drivers were Ron Fellows and Tommy Kendal!

Boris Said guested twice last year (two poles and one win), so I would say that he was the last of the pukka...
