After what seems like an age, Im beginning to feel the fingers itching to do another 3D model.

I'm looking at the McLaren M19, I do enjoy doing the older car, there's more to see for a start.

I was just wondering if anyone has any reasonable photos of this one.

Thanks for any help :up:

I think it's the British Grand Prix, not the Race of Champions. Revson's starting number was #56 at the RoC and #19 at the British GP. BTW great picture!

The above artwork of the M19 is interesting for the fact that the 'McLaren' down the flanks of the cockpit surround is orange. The car was only ever turned out like that at the Yardley launch AFAIK, it being changed to black before the car first raced in that livery.

Regarding the Revson pic, aside from the number (I don't 'do' numbers) the other giveaways are the rear wing being mounted further back (and differently too, I imagine) than at the RoC, and also the BGP organiser-issued 'REVSON' on the airbox.

The photo reminded me of one I used to have of Hulme & Revson in formation driving their Can-Am cars, signed by both in blue felt-tip. Sadly that went missing a long time ago...

Anyway, here's one I took in the paddock at Brands, also during the 1972 British GP meeting;

Posted Image

Another from Brands, this time of Scheckter during the Victory Race;

Posted Image

One I've found somewhere or other;

Posted Image

And me on the day I sold my precious bodywork, including the M19 nose last raced by Revson at Kyalami 1973...

Posted Image

Not much help, if any, I realise - but nice to remember a great-looking car again!

There are a number of M19 photos at the Historic Grand Prix website. It looks like you have a number of good photos already, but you might still want to check out that site.

As usual, a fastidious job... just like the famous cups...

D-Type... copy and paste the URL to your browser... it didn't come up for me with the image codes either.

And doesn't that photos posted by Udo look fabulous? It's hard to remember how much nicer cars were before they became billboards. Even if Yardley colours lookded good anyway!

Hi FW11B,
Well I've dug out some pics and scanned them in.
Now I've just got to see how to get them to you.
I haven't tried the posting yet and I don't recall the source of the
pics which I've found.

Thanks macran, I appreciate you taking the time to look.

I'm a bit stuck with the front suspension at the moment, could really do with a picture without the nose :

FW11B - nice model/rendering.

Add a couple of chassis stands, and some reflective floor tiles, and your "work in progress" could become a diorama!

Nice render FW, and what a pretty car............beautiful proportions, nice flowing lines and then it all comes to an abrupt halt with the V8 on full view, all topped off by sponsor logos that really compliment the body shape...........that's how a racing car should look, and I don't think there were many to top it!

Not too much progress at the moment, but thanks to macoran and the excellent pictures he's supplied, I think I'll be able to do some more details to the front suspension now.

FW11B:

Looks pretty darn good to me! I think the M19 and BRM 160 are the two of the most attractive race
cars ever. You have done the M19 justice.

A bit late in the day for your project but here's a photograph I took of the M19 at the 1972 British Grand Prix.

Thanks Marc, those are fantastic, shows exactly what I needed to know, I'll now be able to model the front suspension and not have to hide it away :D

as for the Dunlop tyres, they were taken from the Matra as an experiment to see how the car looked, new Goodyears have now been provided.....
