Gentlemen!

I want to announce a little sensation to you.
I´ve got the last foto, Pedro Rodriguez has taken short before he started into his last race.
A young woman of Bayreuth had been guest in the paddock 1971 and the foto shows her sitting in Rodriguez´ Ferrari. The foto is accompanied with a short story of this meeting.
Please have a look to: www.norisringhistorie.de/norframe4_71.htm !

But - attention - the site is in German only (because of my cruel English).

Regards

Jürgen

OK, I try to translate and compress. ;)

Petra, a young woman of Bayreuth was invited to meet Pedro Rodriguez at the Norisring, because her parents both were (motorbike-) racedrivers and had therefore good conections all over the world. So to Mexico too.
They knew a young man, who was a friend (?) of the Rodriguez family and informed them, that the great and famous F1-Racedriver P.R. will racing in Nuremberg. And he will manage (via telefone and his connections) a meeting with Pedro at the Norisring.
She travelled with her mother to Nuremberg and met Pedro in his hotel first. After that, they were allowed to visit him in the pits and Petra has to take seat in the Ferrari. Pedro offered to take a photo from her in the Ferrari. Because she wasn´t so "athletic formed" as an Mexican racedriver  , she had problems to sit right in and get right out of the Ferrari (~ oh, is that English right?? : ).
And then the race started with the known story....

Am I understandable? I hope a bit...

Juergen

Great story, Jürgen. For someone who met him in person several times, it is fantastic to see that these sorts of memories exist.

I don't want to occupy this thread as it is about Jürgens story from the Norisring race.
Just in short: I met Pedro several times at the Ring during the sixties, mainly at the 1000k races. I remember him as a very quiet, but always friendly man, who always patiently wrote autographs when the young guys that we were were hunting them in the Nürburgring Paddock. This photo is from the 1000k race of 1968 and shows Pedro in the paddock during a practice break. He shared the Ford F3L with Chris Irwin on that weekend. All of you know what happened during Saturdays practice.

I shot the picture myself and the autograph was written I think a year later at the 1969 1000Km.

Oh no, Udo! This is not "my thread". Please carry on, Udo!

With best regards

Thank you very much Nathan!

There are two great pics, which I will use for my HP. I will ask the owner for permission to do so!

With many greetings from Nuremberg

Jürgen
