Thanks for letting us see those, Bill.
Nice to see the TransAm car in there too.
Does anyone know what became of the Chaparral-run McLaren M12 that Surtees and (de Adamich?) drove in '69?

Jim Hall looks pretty good, I can't remember if Jim II told he had one or both knees replaced, a legacy of his Stardust accident; but I think he in very good health. At the BRIC Phil Hill looked like he was having some seious back problems. Vic...well he looks like he is still smoking like a madman.
i wish he would stop.

Jim Hall looked good, he walks with a limp and a little hunched. Other than when he was in the car & driving I think Elford had a cigaratte. I think that Phil is having some health problems. He is still sharp to talk with, but his physical movements require effort.

2F, I have seen the Chaparral M12 at Elkhart Lake at least twice in the last five years. I didn't go to the BRIC this year so I can't say if it appeared there again, but it's definitely still out there. I don't have any info on who currently owns it, sorry. Shame it wasn't at Monterey with the Hall cars and Chaparral-associated cars.

'A cigarette' is not a term you use with Vic Elford...
Never singular.

As always, it was wonderful to mingle among the crowd and notice the many greats of the past. Dan Gurney seemed to be enjoying himself immensely, Jim Hall looked sharp, as did Sir Stirling. Brian Redman was his usual gregarious self, while Vic Elford seemed a bit disinterested, to me at least. I'm kinda concerned about Phil Hill, though. He was having noticeable difficulty moving about and even getting his helmet on was an apparent ordeal. He didn't look very happy as he was being "assisted" into his car for Saturday's demonstration run. Hoping it's just the normal wear and tear that comes with age...

I talked with Dan Gurney on Saturday afternoon. I was in the Chaparral tent when he walked in. I asked him how his biography is going (David Bull Publishing are to publish). Mr. Gurney said he and his wife were editing, but there was a lot to do and it would be 1 to 2 years before it was published.
