It took me some while to identify the race, but I'm sure someone will confirm the occasion quickly for me. Anyone name a few characters? - I think I can see Tony Rudd.

The short bloke two in front of Tony Rudd is Dennis 'Sherriff' Perkins, and I think it might be Cyril Atkins sitting on the front wheel.

Yes, I thought it must be that race, but unusually I can remember very little about it. Stewart's first F1 win, but Clark wasn't there.?
Is that Graham Hill sat on the front of the trailer?

I wondered if John Tipler is among them....press officer for John Player Motorsport at that time?

Well, the bloke with the glasses bending down certainly looks like Mauro Forghieri.Originally posted by David Beard
Another from Brands....
Bloke with the trophy?
Was this taken at the 1971 BOAC 1000km? Regga and Ickx finished second with the 312PB.

I believe I took the photo at the top of Paddock, ROC 71.

…so I probably got to see Brabham going slowly before you didOriginally posted by sterling49
…and I was standing at South bank as usual
I was opposite the pits just before the big brick-built grandstand (that incororated the Grovewood Suite?)
Was that the "Top Straight" in those days? or have I just made that up?

No Richard, you didn't make it up (I suffer from this as well!) I saw Black Jack at Clearways, obviously freewheeling , I felt for him after Monaco and all. The Grovewood Suite, all the names of the day, John Webb and co, all had their car parking spaces named on plaques, beats the "hot desking/parking" that abounds today
IMHO, Brands was so much nicer then, rustic, muddy, smelly loos, awful tea from Minters, scaffold planks for seats in the Grandstands, old pits and paddock (with scaffolding and corrugated tin roofing) give me that anyday to the clinical appearance now, devoid of trackside banners(Mintex,Yazaki, Edward Lewis etc) and no M20 as a back drop
...oh yes, it was the "Top Straight" when races used to start on a 3-2-3-2-3 grid

It was some time before I realised what had happened.

I can picture that lovely car going sedately towards the finish line, it was a BT33 right? In the new turqoise/yellow strip, gorgeous The trouble with being out on the long circuit Barry, was that often, you could not even hear the Tannoy system, in the 6 hour races, it appeared to be like "interference" and you were put back in touch with reality upon making it back to the "short" circuit. But the viewing was great, Hawthorn was superb, I can still see Senna flying around there, great view of the man at work in the cockpit.
