Yes, it is.
But I don't think it's correct to miss the source, which I believe it's easy to remember for jadb1:
the old spanish foro TheF1, and also, by then, the copyright owner was mentioned too: Rainer
Schlegelmilch. In fact that picture was publish in the book Formula 1 in Camera 1970-1979.
It's a pitty that people read some rules and, after agree with them, show us this way how
serious they are... :down:

There are a diference between help ones and respect others too.

1976, De Dryver from the Belgian GP.

It is quite a story! It was a media publicity stunt! Ickx was the driver for the team, but Bernard De Dryver (who was heavily sponsored by tobacco brand Belga) set up this 'media' stunt. He was going to replace Jacky ickx for the Belgian Grand Prix, while Ickx was going to be the 'team chef' for this one event. Sadly Ickx's father died during that Grand Prix weekend (don't know the exact details) and the whole project was understandably cancelled.

And another rare one from 1976, where he 'rented' the March from Henton, for 300.000 Belgian Francs (7.500 Euro), but I don't know which Grand Prix it was...

Perhaps the Holy Grail. A chap who was not allowed to participate despite having had his entry accepted. Which was a bit further than Otto Stuppacher managed for his home race, although the Italians and Canadians were less fastidious.

Fortunately, you can check out the Oppitzhauser racing history here - go to 1976, the first picture is the car whilst testing, the 4th is a close-up of Karl in the car at the Oesterreichring with the magic number 40 in it...

As a helmet obsessive I wonder whose helmet it is on the sidepod?

Jacky`s father died on 11 May 1978.

I hate to state the obvious, but aerogi's 1st photo is of an Ensign, not a March, so, yes, that story definitely belongs to 1978.

Dear Lord.... is the pretentiousness of the website inversely correlated with the driver's achievements in F1?;)

I think we should seek out Otto Stuppacher and offer to give him a site twice as flashy (and as Flash-y) as Oppitzhauser's.

as a fellow austrian i know oppitzhauser. well he was a respectable touring car driver, but only on a national level. that website indeed is ridiculous. and full of mistakes (grammatically and spelling - for instance it tells something about aguy looking exactly like rene Arnoux but it says Arnut...well, must be his lost twin brother!)

ps: something you brits wont realize but it adds up to the pretentiousness: it always says "KR" oppitzhauser on that site which is short for "member of the chamber of commerce". thank god jack brabham didnt mention his o.b.e status everytime!

i guess racing in the ferrari challange with a lot of equally pretentious chaps made him set up this fountain of ego-tripping in cyberspace

The 360 series is.... well.... I had fun watching them coming down to the Melbourne hairpin at Donington last year, but at Silverstone supporting FIA GTs this year it was one of the most boring races I've ever seen.

I was lucky enough that Michael Oliver told me about them.
Michael was trying to find Jorg in connection with another car - and he is obviously an incredible detective!

When you look at the photos you can see that Jorg did not change the colour scheme much from the Belle-Vue colours that it was in when Williams GPE raced the car (the base colours are the same and the wing still has (some of?) the Saudia decals on it).

I see two different decorations, with & with out Schmeck Sponsor. But I belive that he made i only tentative to race in Snetterton '78 (Aurora AFX series).
It's possible before (ex Neve scheme) and after the test sesion?

I can't remember if he entered any other events (possibly some German/European series).

Presumably the decoration changed as he found sponsors (e.g. Schmeck) - the F3000 team I worked with changed sponsors between practice & race as the driver found new sponsors!!
