I was wondering - does anyone have any images of Suzuka in the 1960s please? :)

Also, I was looking through http://www.racingcircuits.net, and I came across these proposals for the Suzuka circuit, designed by John Hugenholtz between 1959 and 1961:

Was proposal number 2 (or 01.gif above) really a serious circuit design? Three crossovers?!

I have never seen any pictures of the early Suzuka. Was trying to google and search around the other day.
I think they ought to have developed the 3 crossovers track, would have been really interesting to see.

I have just picked up a site with some early motorcycle racing from Suzuka in 1962.

That is the ultra long link, the top batch of photos are from Suzuka.

Thanks for the link :) I guess I'll have to search more thoroughly with Google...

I searched with the google image facility, managed to pick up a black and white bike shot from the main straight, and it took me to the site. Glad you enjoyed!

I recall reading somewhere, I think in Road & Track, about the creation of Suzuka...

The crossover was said to have been a necessity because of the narrowness of the plot of land on which the circuit was built. I don't recall that there was any mention of an earlier scheme with three such crossovers... and I can't get any of those links to work.

They can be found on http://www.racingcircuits.net/

Find Suzuka, and you'll find them by clicking on Original Circuit Proposals.
