I don't have the top ten, just the class positions.

About the drivers, do you mean portrait photos?

Pardon my ignorance - The Swedish Rally is the same thing as the Rally of the Midnight Sun, correct? And it was run June 13-18, 1955? If so, Automobile Year 1955-56 has a listing of the top 10 on page 204. I'd be happy to type up the list for you if this information is correct. The event was won by A. Borgefors & A. Gustavsson in a Porsche 1500S.

My ignorance is greater! Is it worthwhile re-naming the thread [again!] to that effect for the sake of accuracy?

No
I doubt if the existing title will confuse anyone - in fact it's likely to attract more attention than a switch to Rally of the Midnight Sun

JB,

I would like to have the top-10 also.

About the rally's name, up to 1964 was "Svenska Rallyt till Midnattssolen" (Midnight Sun) and from 1965 on was "K.A.K. Rallyt" (Swedish -KAK is the Swedish AutoClub).

From Autocourse. Threre are two columns missing from the scan: times on the final test and total marks lost.

As already stated, it was Svenska Rallyt till Midnattsolen . Or Swedish Rally to the Midnight Sun.

So both are actually correct, the other is just shortened.

When the event became a winter rally in 1965, it was for a time called KAK-Rallyt (btw Royal Automobile Club and not Swedish...).

From 1976 it became the Swedish Rally or International Swedish Rally.

Rainer,

the picture shows the '63 winners: Berndt Jansson, Erik Pettersson and the Porsche 356 Carrera 2 Coupé.

Thanks Carles,

He must have been a young man in 55, did he start his career with rallying ?? Can you expand on other rally events that he competed in.

Cheers

David

frogeye,

I have listed him three times in my rallying database:

- '54 Midnightsun, Alfa Romeo 1900 ti, codriver Bo Boësen, 4th o/a, 2nd in Class
- '55 Midnightsun, Alfa Romeo 1900 ti, codriver Bo Boësen, 6th o/a, 1st in Class, #98
- '57 Midnightsun, Alfa Romeo Giulietta ti, codriver Karl Gustav Kanrell, 5th in class

By the way, 3rd in the Ladies classification this last time, there was a Birgit Bonnier as codriver of Margareta van Essen in a VW Beetle 1200. Any relation? Was she JoBo's sister? Or maybe his wife?.

She was not a sister and certainly not his wife. Not even a cousin. But most probably a relative. Don't know the right connection though.
JoBo was born in 1930 and had done some realiability and orienteering competitions in the early part of the fifties.

Bo Boësen was a photographer who did some racing and rallying. He was also Bonnier's co-driver in Mille Miglia in 55 and'56.
KG Kanrell was a specialist on British sportscars and helped Bonnier with his first HRG. Kanrell also acted as Bonnier's mechanic during his first foray as a professional racing driver in Europe in 1956.
