Minor corrections: Sven-Olof Svedberg? and Orrenius. The results above appeared recently elsewhere. We are all sadly lacking our copies of MN etc for the right date for the rest of the results and entry lists etc.
I was a member of a service crew on that event - 4 days and 3 nights with only one 3hour halt and a few 1 hour halts. This year we also lost the event's main organiser, David Siegle-Morris.

A part about 200 miles south west of it. It's not in the Gulf either!

The London Rally ran 4 times as an International, 1965-68, sposored by Gulf, organised by the London Motor Club. A sort of summer RAC Rally, covering much of Great Britain.
There have been odd attempts to revive a special stage rally in the true London area since. There was even a plan to run a stage rally in the London Docklands area during its redevelopment in the 1980s (allegedly scuppered by the governing body on safety grounds - deep water!).
The London Car Club, a different motor club, at one time ran the Nor'wester Rally in North Wales. The Sevenoaks and District Motor Club at one time stretched the "and district" tag by running the Kent Rally in Wales (an event that survives today on a small scale and will run on 18/19 February 2006 as a navigational night road rally entirely within the county of Kent).

Tony Fall's car before the start in 1966. From the registration number, it is Aaltonen's 1965 RAC Rally winning car, updated to 1966 Appendix J Group 2. Lack of evidence of it ever having been fitted with a roof light etc. is one fact that points to a new car...
