I'm so happy to announce that Carlos Jalife just finished his book (in Spanish) about the Rodriguez brothers. The book measures 22 x 33 cm, weighs 3.65 Kilo, has 592 pages printed on high quality (150 grs) paper and has over 3.000 pictures. The price (in Mexico) will be 750 Pesos - 67.5 USD. It will be available from December 12th at Sanborns, the Mexican store, exclusively.
At the moment, he's dealing with people in several countries in order to get different language versions soon, starting with English in the first half of 2007.
Carlos and his "baby"
Cover
Last summer, I had the chance of browsing through the manuscript / print-out and it looked fabulous. I can't wait to hold his baby in my arms and find out more about the early days of Pedro & Ricardo. It has lovely family pictures too.
Carlos asked me to thank Ray Bell, Don Capps, Vitesse2, Rolando, McRonalds, Stefan Ornedal, Joe Fan, Buford, Allen Brown, Michael Fines, Félix, Jeroen, LF Trigo, Marcor, Wolf, Witt, Hans Ezrodt, William de Jaeger, David Kane, Christian CSGPR, Roger Clark, DMJ, Milan, Richard RDRCR, Bobbo
and Doug Nye (and hopes he didn't forget someone) for their help.

But I wonder what I did to deserve being there on that list?
I, too, await the English translation. My Spanish could never get rusty, it was never strong enough to be confused with iron!

She used to race karts when she was a kid and has a genuine (or so she told us) interest in motorsport. She has been Grand Marshall a couple of times at the Champ Car races in mexico.
Luc, I met Chris. Too bad you couldn't come. the presentation / lunch was a great event.
Carlos told me that he expects the english version will be available on June, 2007 or somewhere near.
From a quick glance I can tell you folks, the book is awesome!!
Congrats again, Carlos.

Look for "Libros" (books) or type Jalife in the search button.
The book is not up yet (considering it was released 2 days ago) but i´m positive it should be available / purchased via the webpage.
If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to pick & ship the book for those of you interested.
PM me or contact me at cjpani (at) gmail.com

The book I just found out, can be shipped to most plavces in Europe by DHL but it costs like 72 and change dollars, which if you add to the 65 and change the book costs is like 138 dollars in total. Anyone interested send me a message to scuderiargz@yahoo.com.mx and maybe we can arrange something through my son's paypal.
And of course Paty Manterola is an old friend, and she's known as the Queen of the races in Mexico, and she surprised us all with her presence, which was much appreciated by all men.
And the book in English should come out only if the format is respected, believe me, it is not worth doing changes because the magnificence would be lost.
And about the Tasman series, there is something there, some pcitures and the 8 races but I'd certainly like to talk to whomever has more info, Mr GTB4. But what's a PM (Prime Minister?). It's like the IMHO and FYI things, it took me ages to find what it meant.
Cheers

Carlos Jalife just informed me that he got hold of the first English copies of the 'The brothers Rodriguez' book we are all waiting for. The main bulk will arrive soon and then it will be distributed all over the world. I'm sure Carlos will post soon to fill in all the details. He's also astray in suggesting the V8 turned up only for the Australian rounds
Amendments to the coverage of the NZ races in bold type:-
The first race was at Pukehoke, the NZGP on January 6th. He qualified third among the 22 drivers [31 entries, 21 starters], he certainly was their match but the BRM [V8] quit after 30 [28] laps because of a gearbox [clutch] problem. At the Rothmans International he was fourth in his heat but the fuel system acted up in the final and he retired after 44 laps [classified 12th on 46 laps], although he led the race [no he didn’t, though he did eventually get up to second place] after a great start which lasted until he spun in lap 66 [22 laps after he retired? The race was only 63 laps]. Then at the Lady Wigram Trophy [V8] he was sixth in both the preliminary race and the final. And in the final New Zealander round at Teretonga he was third in his heat, it was raining and he could overcome many problems with his wet driving skill [but was nonetheless 1m 20s behind Clark at the end of the 10-lap race!]. In the final the engine expired after his mate Bruce hit a stone which punctured Pedro’s car radiator [from 15sec ahead?] and the Mexican retired after 21 laps.
The story of Pedro’s discovery that he had a six-speed gearbox was related in Bruce McLaren’s Autosport column after Wigram, several weeks before Longford

Good News for Rodriguez Fans!
The new English edition is now available in North America from David Bull Publishing, www.bullpublishing.com/
I understand that the English edition has been improved both physically and editorially. For instance, the 220,000-word book now has a much-needed index.
The above web site shows a series of sample pages, and they look great.
Frank
PS: Sorry for double-posting to this and the book thread, but perhaps they can be merged?

A substantial piece of work. Looks and feels good and will be a table centerpiece for quite some time, I reckon.
Good value, very careful packing, quick delivery; bookselling done right. Thank you, David Bull.
