Or should that be now renamed APAQUBN: Atlas Previously Assumed Quite Unlikely But Now Bernies Likes It So It Might Not Be So Alternative championship?

2005 | 2006 | 2007

Nothing interesting about the order yet, but Bernie's comments reminded me to get this started.

1. Hamilton
2. Heidfeld
3. Rosberg
4. Alonso
5. Kovalainen
6. Barrichello
7. Nakajima
8. Bourdais
9. Raikkonen

We're two GPs further, and it's still very close between LH & FM. If Lewis doesn't finish in Germany, Massa can pass him by finishing 9th!
And Kimi win in Germany there gets him in the lead.

1. Hamilton 3x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 1x5th, 1x10th
2. Massa 3x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 1x5th, 1x13th
3. Raikkonen 2x1st
4. Kubica 1x1st
5. Heidfeld 3x2nd
6. Kovalainen 1x3rd, 1x4th, 3x5th
7. Trulli 1x3rd, 1x4th, 2x6th
8. Barrichello 1x3rd,1x6th
9. Rosberg 1x3rd, 2x8th
10. Coulthard 1x3rd, 3x9th
11. Webber 1x4th, 1x5th
12. Alonso 1x4th, 2x6th
13. Glock 1x4th, 1x9th
14. Vettel 1x5th
15. Nakajima 1x6th, 2x7th
16. Button 1x6th, 1x10th
17. Bourdais 1x7th, 1x11th, 1x13th
18. Piquet jr 1x7th, 1x11th, 1x15th
19. Fisichella 1x10th
20. Sato 1x13th
21. Davidson 1x15th
22. Sutil 1x16th

It's a close run thing for fourth in the constructors' championship:

1. Ferrari 5x1st
2. McLaren 3x1st
3. BMW 1x1st
4. Toyota 1x3rd, 2x4th
5. Red Bull 1x3rd, 1x4th
6. Honda 1x3rd, 2x6th
7. Wiliams 1x3rd, 1x6th
8. Renault 1x4th
9. Toro Rosso 1x5th
10. Force India 1x10th
11. Super Aguri 1x13th

Bernie is losing it. Racing isnt about winning at all cost, but driving as well as you can and seeing how far it will carry you.

Renault's and Red Bull's (and maybe also Williams') by courtesy of the stupid SC rules, so you could somewhat expect it.

No change at the top, but Heikki and especially Timo are making progress:

1. Hamilton 4x1st

5. Kovalainen 1x1st, 1x3rd
6. Heidfeld 3x2nd

20. Sato 1x13th
21. Sutil 1x15th, 1x16th, 2x19th
22. Davidson 1x15th, 1x16th

McLaren is closing in even more:

1. Ferrari 5x1st, 3x2nd
2. McLaren 5x1st, 1x2nd
3. BMW 1x1st
4. Toyota 1x2nd, 1x3rd
5. Renault 1x2nd, 2x4th
6. Red Bull 1x3rd, 1x4th
7. Honda 1x3rd, 2x6th

Time for an update, surely? :)
Unusually for recent times, the AQUA has veered away from the real WDC in the last few races. Massa has retaken the lead; with Alonso & Vettel bumping themselves up and pushing quick Nick down to 8th (behind SEVEN gp winners this year!), whereas in the real WDC he is just one point off Kimi in 4th. Nelsinho's oddball 2nd place in Germany flatters to deceive.

Well, here's the update!
Of what we now know as Bernie's favorite championship table...

Massa's controversial win in Belgium had some impact in the WDC standings, but even more in the AQUA standings as he's now leading! So Lewis has to win a race ;)
Quite a gain for Alonso who was 14th after Italy but has now jumped to 6th.

1. Massa 5x1st
2. Hamilton 4x1st
3. Raikkonen 2x1st
4. Kubica 1x1st, 2x2nd
5. Kovalainen 1x1st, 1x2nd
6. Alonso 1x1st, 4x4th
7. Vettel 1x1st, 3x5th
8. Heidfeld 4x2nd
9. Rosberg 1x2nd, 1x3rd
10. Glock 1x2nd, 2x4th
11. Piquet jr 1x2nd, 1x6th
12. Trulli 1x3rd, 1x4th
13. Barrichello 1x3rd, 1x6th
14. Coulthard 1x3rd, 1x7th
15. Webber 1x4th
16. Nakajima 1x6th, 2x7th
17. Button 1x6th, 1x9th
18. Bourdais 2x7th
19. Fisichella 1x10th
20. Sutil 1x13th, 1x15th
21. Sato 1x13th, 1x16th
22. Davidson 1x15th

In the AQUA WCC Ferrari has a cushion while Renault and especially Toro Rosso make some nice jumps.
Nine teams have already scored at least one podium!

1. Ferrari 7x1st
2. McLaren 5x1st
3. BMW 1x1st, 6x2nd
4. Renault 1x1st, 1x2nd
5. Toro Rosso 1x1st, 3x5th
6. Toyota 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 3x4th
7. Wiliams 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 1x6th
8. Red Bull 1x3rd, 1x4th
9. Honda 1x3rd, 2x6th
10. Force India 1x10th
11. Super Aguri 1x13th

Indeed!

Alonso -who has four 4th places as his next results BTW- keeps climbing and helped Renault in getting 3rd spot in the AQUA WCC!

Just to clarify, I'm sure our championship co-ordinator knows that, just Alonso doesn't need those results to break a tie and thus they are not shown.

Has anyone ever won as many races in a season as Alonso, without scoring any other podium positions? He has had an extraordinary year.

How about Jean-Pierre Jabouille's record? 18 of his 21 career points came from wins.

Jim Clark in '62, '64 and '65, if you only count championship races.

Alonso has indeed had an extraordinary year. And it's not over yet, there still two more races...

With one race to go Lewis Hamilton takes the lead again - but it's mighty close!
Hamilton leads by virtue of one more 3rd place. That said, should Massa finish 3rd in Brazil while Lewis fails, Lewis is still the champion by virtue of his two 5th places against Filipe's one.
So Felipe Massa has to score at least 2nd to become champion - but most likely the winner of the last GP will be the winner of the 2008 AQUA championship as well...

Standings:

1. Hamilton 5x1st, 2x2nd, 3x3rd
2. Massa 5x1st, 2x2nd, 2x3rd
3. Raikkonen 2x1st, 2x2nd
4. Alonso 2x1st, 5x4th
5. Kubica 1x1st, 3x2nd
6. Kovalainen 1x1st, 1x2nd
7. Vettel 1x1st, 3x5th
8. Heidfeld 4x2nd
9. Rosberg 1x2nd, 1x3rd
10. Glock 1x2nd, 2x4th
11. Piquet jr 1x2nd, 1x4th
12. Trulli 1x3rd, 1x4th
13. Barrichello 1x3rd, 1x6th
14. Coulthard 1x3rd, 1x7th
15. Webber 1x4th
16. Nakajima 1x6th, 2x7th
17. Button 1x6th, 1x9th
18. Bourdais 2x7th
19. Fisichella 1x10th
20. Sutil 1x13th, 1x15th
21. Sato 1x13th, 1x16th
22. Davidson 1x15th

Ferrari is the 20008 AQUA WCC champion!
A McLaren 1-2 in Brazil (the best result they can hope for) would result in Ferrari and McLaren both having 7 wins and 4 second places as well, but in that case Ferrari still wins because they have already scored six 3rd places aganinst McLaren's four.
BMW have to win at Interlagos to reclaim 3rd.

1. Ferrari 7x1st
2. McLaren 6x1st
3. Renault 2x1st
4. BMW 1x1st, 7x2nd
5. Toro Rosso 1x1st, 3x5th
6. Toyota 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 3x4th
7. Wiliams 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 1x6th
8. Red Bull 1x3rd, 1x4th
9. Honda 1x3rd, 2x6th
10. Force India 1x10th
11. Super Aguri 1x13th

But given the AQUA kru voted that the Spa penalty for Hamilton was a bunch of foetid dingo's kidneys from a corrupt organization...

Humm somehow I find we need a new name for this championship as I always thought of this more likely to happen than the point system we have now :D.

You're right. It should immediately be re-named: "A Reasonable Scoring Equivalent"
