As per topic - I'll go for Rosberg for keeping it clean & putting a Williams where it shouldn't have been.

Just to let you know, that although I voted Nico, Lewis was supremely in command today. So really, for me both these guys were drivers of the day.

Also, Kazuki Nakajima as an option for this poll?! Might as well have included Piquet and Massa :drunk:

Heikki

He had a game plan at the start of the weekend and he kept to it.
He is most improved since last year.
He made a mistake and then owned up to it in interview afterwards.
He made a very fine overtaking manoeuvre on Alonso.

I could easily have voted Hamilton though, or any of the drivers who made the race look "boring". That was the trick today, making sure you were boring :)

Regards

Andy

Probably cause he ain't a rookie anymore, but certainly due to the fact he has a racing car under his arse, no lawnmower as the R27 was

tough question.

FA? Mistake free and destroyed his teammate but he had all good luck at the end, no real overtakings.

RB impressed me slightly more as I think Honda is worse car than Renault. But what about S. Bourdais and Nico Rosberg? And how to evaluate McLaren drivers performance? LH dominant but HK had his pace!

In short, one of group of RB, NR, SB, LH, HK would be my driver of the day.

Has to be Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton. Both were brilliant.

Nico was terrific and Heikki was unlucky with the timing of the second safety car.
But to me Lewis would have won by a minute without safety car assistance for the others.

Well he made it to the end which is saying a lot in this race .. plus it was based on positions who made it on the poll.

Can't remember the last time one of these driver of the day polls didn't name the ferrari drivers!

All of the contenders bar one either lucked their finishing postion or screwed up at some point apart from LH and NH and maybe Nico, got to give it to Lewis really as he was faultless today when others where losing their heads.

Mentions in despatches -

Nico, NH, and Bourdais the only other drivers that couldn't be faulted

Rubens - great drive screwed by a rookie mistake

Alonso - car looks a bit of a dog but he seemed a bit ragged, glad to see him with a smile on his face, perhaps he'll regain his sanity in the mid field this year with the pressure off.

Kovy - looks like they need to fit a thumb guard over the limiter button!

That's true. If there is a worst of the day, they will be at the top of the list.

Virtually all of them; could have voted for Nick or Nico really - two solid trouble-free drives to the Podium.

I had trouble deciding between Bourdais and Rosberg, but when I think about it... Bourdais was definitely my driver of the race, because Rosberg was pretty much guaranteed to score points. Bourdais wasn't, and he almost came fourth!

Kimi should not be listed at all in this poll. Sure, he had some monstrous passes and all, but too many strange offs and that long stint behind Barrichello...

Alonso, no question. Super drive

For the fools that voted Hamilton, any F1 driver should walk it from pole with the best car so his drive was nothing special, perhaps you all should try to watch the race in place of fawning over the Golden Child.

fools voted Hamilton who won from pole, can't even win from second, looks like a villenueve, and again, Heikki with optimum strategy would win. No comments.

So Hamilton should say: "Ok Ron I know I got the pole but I want to start from second to prove the superintelligent AtlasBB armchair experts than i can win from there."

The only fool here is you.

Well, his main competitors all suffered terrible luck and there was non-stop carnage behind him. I don't think Hamilton had a great drive at all, really..

I thought Kimi's drive from 15th to 3rd was brilliant, but then I suspect fatigue in the heat led to the errors, a bit less fitness than Hammy and Heikki who both looked pretty fresh afterwards. For driving away off the front time and again, giving no-one a sniff of a challenge, no errors, as fast as he needed to be, I voted Hammy.

Lewis deserves votes. I think several drivers deserve the best driver of the race, those who did not put a foot wrong throughout the race, Lewis, Alonso, Bourdais, Roseberg.

What I am still tryng to figure out are the 10 votes for Kimi. WTF?

He did what he needed and got maximum points out of the race, I see that as an optimal effort.

Did someone else in the field do a similar good job?

Yes, maybe but that is hard to judge.

Maybe some people feel that the good outweigh the bad? Kimi had terrible luck and he had some strange brain farts (going off for example), but he made some fantastic passes and charges through the field.

His terrible pace at the end of the race can be forgiven, as his car was on the verge of dying anyway.

Difficult to call between Lewis and Fred. Ended up going with the later, because he had less votes.

Hamilton - numerous safety cars tried to screw with him but he was perfect from the second the lights went out.

I voted for Kova, he had fastest lap after all, and was way heavier than Lewis in qualifying which means he was pretty heavier for most of the race. With a different strategy and without the bad luck with SC, the race could have gone to him. Hope he's more ambitious in the next races.

I think you are confusing Kimi with Massa. After Kimi's first lap, he only overtook Rubens. The one who made all of the passes on track was Massa.

Bourdais, despite not being a real "rookie" (after all, he has 3 Champcar titles), had a great race.

Rubinho, also great, made the Honda looks way better than it is.

Alonso, also, great race.

Lets not forget Hamilton and Rosberg.

Bourdais has 4 Champcar titles. He is a very experienced racer. IMO he'll end up the season with more points than Vettel.

How could you chose just one!? Lewis was just perfect. The same could be said about Nico and Nick (I'm a bit surprised that only 5 people voted for Heidfeld). Alonso was spectacular in an underperforming machine (just look at Piquet. I don't rate the young Brazilian as high as other people who think -or should I say thought?- he is another Hamilton (I think both McLaren guys are superior drivers to him), but I'm sure Nelsinho can do better (He was nowhere the whole weekend)). Sebastien was great too (he even was pulling away from Alonso and Kova before his car stopped), Rubens did a very good job despite what happened then. Kubica didn't seem so good in the second half, I guess the strategy did not favoured him. Nakajima was unimpressive. Kimi lost control. Trulli was doing really well til his car broke. Glock didn't impress me that much. Massa wasn't that good either. Pretty much all the rest was out in the first lap or little less.

I expected no less of Hamilton, but for me the stand out drive was Bourdais. He spent 5 years ruling the roost in CART, but came into F1 with no hint of self importance, no trace of this will be easy etc., just knuckled down, kept a level head and was running easily in 4th place until his car let him down.

I agree. There were a few very good drives but Seabass impressed me the most.

And Kimi impressed me the least. I'm not a fan of his but I respect his talent. Too bad he showed none of it today. This is about as bad as I've seen him drive.

Driver of the race Kimi Räikkönen. Showed again how the raise from the back is done. Great stuff.
