the win10 app is not bad
Agreed, somewhat to my surprise!
I downloaded onto my Surface Pro 3 it last night, and got it running about 1 minute before the lights went out and spent the race exploring it. I haven't paid any money yet, so what I saw was not much different to the live timing web page, but since it worked well out of the box I just might throw some money at it and see what else is available from a subscription.

on thing that annoys me about the app, is the out of focus animation that plays in the background. This serves no purpose other than to eat battery life and generate heat. Get rid of it or at least make it a disable thing.

I ditched the app, too limited and pricey.
I use a streaming app now, it's not HD and there's a 30 second delay but it's free and probably illegal, works for me

I used the app a couple of years ago. It was pretty good but I just don't feel like giving my money Bernie & co.

No, it's a SCAM.
They promoted it as "Follow F1 absolutely free" on twitter.
You go read it and they're still charging for anything past the leaderboard.
