The app has been released, it's 933kB for the Nokia 5800 version (Java). Sadly I can't get past the login screen, because it cannot lose focus from the entry fields so any touch of the screen results in more characters being typed. Well at least they tried

EDIT: Ok, I managed to use the 'try' feature which lets you use it without registering. Seems fairly solid; it has a home screen with a live session countdown and session times, a live timing screen (currently empty), a season calendar, and championship standings.

Futher observations.. the help section suggests track data will be available, like temperature. You can also see a countdown to any grand prix in the year for whatever reason. The 'races' tab might include results of all the sessions too by the looks of how it is structured. So it looks like it will be a very useful app, not just for live timing but for keeping track of the season on the go, without using any dodgy mobile websites. Also, you cannot exit the application.

Can you please provide a link to where I can download the app?? Many Thanks.

They've pulled the app. Maybe because I emailed them and said the login screen was broken and the exit button doesn't work

Your browser is good enough to not require a mobile application for the service...

I'm not able to install it on my Nokia N78. It tells me "Compulsory attributes missing"

edit: It works :) Just download the *.jar file instead of the *.jad

My guess is that the iPhone version will not be available at all because it clashes with the pay version already in the app store. Someone has messed up the contractual obligations.

Yes it would explain why they removed mention of the iPhone version from their site. The app creators probably kicked up a stir and it was dropped. To be fair I don't blame them, I blame whoever decided to sell of the rights for the app in the first place. £20 for the app gives an idea of the silly money they paid for it.

Has anyone managed to register for Livetiming in the last few hours?

Registration finishes but a confirmation email is never sent. :well:

Worked now. Tried a gmail.com address, selecting a different country and used IE instead of Chrome. One of those attributes might have caused the problem.

I used my old log-in but a new email address and was sent an email within 4 seconds of hitting register.
The confirm email was sent to BOTH old and new email addresses so they DO have some of the old info on file.... or whatever.

See ya all for FP2
(busy working during FP1)

The app is working very well on HD2 :) the only annoyance is that you have to use application keyboard instead of winmo virtual keyboard :)

Yeah I think they opted for a custom keyboard to maximise compatibility. Has some issues on the 5800, but it's not like you have to log in every time luckily.

So hold on, late to the party perhaps, but Formula1.com have launched a live timing app, for free, but there is also one that you have to pay for that has nothing to do with FOM?

The app I got in my phone is from 2009. Doesn't work.

The mobile.f1.com page gives me:
"The application will shortly be available for download for high-end Java-enabled phones and Blackberry. Check this page regularly for the latest on availability."

Yes. Had to re-sign up this morning as the password reminder wasn't working. Annoyingly, you have to login each time session to get the live timing working. Try clearing your browser cookies.

I have registered again, but my problem is that the live timing screen is not updated constantly as previous years, only erratically after every 20-30 seconds, sometimes even more. I have tried with different broswers (Opera, IE and Firefox) but to no avail.

Anyone else suffering the same problem?

Or, you could call them 'teething issues'?

I mean c'mon. As far as I can see, they're offering free live timing and SMS services, without having to stump up for a annual subscription.

I couldn't login with my username and password from last year. Had to re-register and then it said that I hadn't confirmed my email yet. Later I asked for a password reminder but no email arrived with it yet. Tried to re-register but my email is already "used". I guess I am stuck until I come up with a new email address.

Says free on formula1.com, but I can't find the actual download anywhere.

Was happy with my first try of the iPhone (paid app) live timing- very stable, and handy to have the live timing screen on my phone discretely in the corner of my workplace ;)

The service works great, tried it on home wifi and outside on 3g. Although it's quite data intensive...almost eroded my entire Internet allowance :stoned:

Did you see the prices they were charging for this stuff last year? Was absolutely ridiculous. At least someone has seen sense to offer their once paid for services for free now.

Are we talking about the same thing here? Bernie's Java based live timing service. It has always been free.

Well, seeing how the F1 app isn't available for jailbroken phones either, that you've unlocked and jailbroken has nothing to do with it and the cost of the app has nothing to do with Apple.
